    GBV Caseworker (Mental Health)

    In collaboration with the GBV / PESA Officer and other members of the UNICEF-funded PSS/Life Skill project, the Case Worker will be Ensure effective principled implementation of the project in the project locations.

    • The GBV Case Worker will be responsible to provide the day-to-day Management of all GBV cases and including the identification, documentation, developing case plans, make referral, and follow up.
    • GBV Case Worker will liaise directly with other service providers working within the LGAs and communities where the project is implemented and facilitate referrals to other service providers (health including Mental health, Shelter, NFIs, legal and security service providers, etc.)
    • Ensures that Survivor Centered Approach Guiding principles are maintained and enforced while working with survivors including in safe spaces for women and girls.
    • Facilitate the setting up of information desk at the women and girls Centre where adolescent and women of reproductive age can access Sexual Reproductive Health information.
    • Work with the community volunteers to identify GBV cases in the community and or IDP camps

    Case Management: The GBV Case Worker is to:

    • Contribute within the women and girls centre to the identification of at-risk girls, boys and women and ensure proper documentation
    • Support GBV at-risk individuals or survivors by referring them when necessary and in respect of their consent to other service providers (Health, legal counselling, shelter, livelihoods or mental health etc)
    • Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of gender-based violence) including basic information counselling and case management: Assessment of survivor needs, developing an action plan, implementing the plan, follow up and case closure processes in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedure and IASC guidelines on case management (SOP).
    • Provide direct age-appropriate support and care to vulnerable adolescent and young women (including survivors of GBV) that includes counselling and case management for under 18 years survivors in line with case management: Best Interest Determination (BID), age-appropriate engagement and decision making by the survivor.
    • Ensure Do No Harm analysis is carried out and the principle of Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagements of the Case Worker.
    • Identify resource needs and request to supplies for the women and girls Centre.
    • Responsible for the day to day supervision of artisans providing skills training to vulnerable women and girl at the women and girls Centre
    • Grant Planning & Implementation:

    • Produce monthly human interest story and success story and share with the relevant stakeholders (in collaboration with line manager, IM, and the M&E Officer).                                      Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Provide weekly case update to supervisor (GBV/PSS Officer) including new cases identified, the number of referrals, cases closed, and follow-ups.
    • Provide weekly reports on activities at the women and girls' center. This will include including key achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and follow-up support needed from the supervisor.
    • Submit intake forms to GBV/IMS Officer to ensure a proper database of cases and analysis of reported cases.
    • Ensure the principle of safety and confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data upheld                                                         Coordination & Representation:
    • Participate in Bi-Weekly supervision meetings with GBV/PSS Officer to ensure adherence to standards of care and appropriate case management.
    • Where necessary and in consultation with the GBV/PSS Officer, participate in LGA level coordination meetings.
    • Participate in case conference meetings and provide summary information on critical cases that required a case conference.
    • Maintain positive coordination and relationship with other partners in the field to promote a holistic approach to case management.

    Learning and knowledge management:

    • Document and share relevant information that will inform the development of case studies and or success stories of the project
    • Participate in case review and case conference meetings and share experience on critical/ complex cases.

    Key Contacts/working relationships.

    Internal

    • Report to the GBV/PSS Officer;
    • Supervise community volunteers for GBV activities.

    External

    • Regular and open communication with GOALPrime staff from all departments and field offices.

    Donor Engagement and Fundraising. Participate to ensure that funds for continuity and scale-up of Programme/operations are secured at most 6 months into this contract.

    Languages

    Fluency in Hausa and Kanuri is required. Working knowledge of English is an advantage.
