    Financial Controller

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Governance

    • Own the end-to-end financial reporting process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements in line with IFRS/local GAAP.
    • Establish and maintain strong internal control systems, accounting policies, and financial governance frameworks.
    • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with discipline and consistency.
    • Oversee budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis with strategic recommendations for course correction.
    • Provide senior leadership with deep financial insights and dashboards for agile business decisions.

    Tax & Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensure full compliance with all tax regulations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.) and proactively manage tax planning to optimize liabilities.
    • Oversee all tax filings, audits, and engagements with tax authorities and external advisors.
    • Track regulatory changes and assess their implications on financial reporting and operations.

    Treasury & Working Capital Management

    • Develop robust cash flow strategies and optimize liquidity to support day-to-day operations and growth initiatives.
    • Enhance working capital cycles, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory, through data-driven process improvements.
    • Manage banking relationships and financing structures, ensuring efficient deployment of financial assets.
    • Monitor and mitigate financial risks including FX volatility, interest rate exposure, and counterparty credit risk.

    Financial Analysis & Strategic Modeling

    • Build dynamic financial models to support business planning, pricing, and profitability analysis.
    • Perform scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to guide high-stakes decisions.
    • Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

    Team Leadership & Performance Culture

    • Lead and grow a high-performing finance team through coaching, mentorship, and professional development.
    • Instill a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and commercial excellence.
    • Drive adoption of automation and digital tools to streamline reporting and operational finance.
    • Ensure finance objectives are tightly aligned with the company’s broader commercial goals.

    Investor Relations & Capital Strategy

    • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial updates for investors, board members, and strategic partners.
    • Support capital formation activities by providing accurate financial data, due diligence documentation, and insights on business health.
    • Ensure financial structures align with investor expectations and capital strategy.

    Process Optimization & Systems Integration

    • Continuously assess and enhance financial processes for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
    • Champion the use of technology to automate reconciliation, reporting, and forecasting.
    • Develop and track KPIs that measure financial and operational performance across units.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
    • ICAN, ACCA, or CFA qualification is mandatory.
    • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience, including leadership roles in finance or controllership.
    • Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, accounting operations, and stakeholder reporting.
    • Proven success in high-growth environments or startup ecosystems is a plus.

    • Sharp analytical thinking with a bias for execution.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate cross functionally and influence senior stakeholders.
    • High proficiency in Excel and modern accounting systems (e.g. Zoho).
    • Unwavering attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities with integrity.
