General description of the position:
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial management by ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, proper verification of supporting documents, and compliance with organizational policies and statutory requirements. The role involves managing accounting processes, cash and bank transactions, tax payments, and maintaining proper financial documentation and filing systems. The Finance Officer also supports audits, monitors financial controls, and ensures that financial records are properly archived. Additionally, the position ensures compliance with the organization’s administrative procedures, security regulations, and safeguarding policies while performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Responsibilities & Tasks
Accounting:
- Check invoices verify all supporting documents and complete codification daily.
- Check the Partner list of invoices to verify all supporting documents and complete codification.
- Check that all supporting documents in the payment files are duly signed by the appropriate signatories
- Ensure that all supporting documents are in place before initiating any payment
- Prepare and control tax payments, (PAYE, VAT, STD and WHT)
Administrative Delegation
- Prepare for and support audits or possible inspections.
- Conduct the physical verification of invoices and cash inventories in each book.
- Management of the Delegation bank Book
- Ensure completion of paper and digital filing, as well as securing hardcopies of all supporting documents in the Delegation.
- Supervise the online backup of all supporting documents in the Delegation on a regular basis and ensure the filling of these documents.
- Regularly check sequential integrity and properly file finance documents.
- Ensure that all financial files and transaction supporting documents are kept properly in a professional filing system and office correspondences are dealt with on time.
- Responsible for Tdh Bank management (Bank accounts management, checks and transfers management, payments, internal transfers, etc...).
- Facilitate internal and external audits and other checking through timely retrieval and presentation of financial documents.
- Participate in the weekly Finance department meeting.
- Monthly scanning of financial documents and archive on share point.
- Monthly saga prints out and attach to all payments vouchers
Cash and Bank Management:
- Monitor enforcement of cash payment rules and accurately record transactions in Saga.
- Process and monitor cash transfers from Delegation to Bases.
- Manage the cash flow at the Delegation level and ensure that cash boxes are well supplied.
- Provide an oversight role on the management of Cash advances and ensure timely closure of same.
Other:
- Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the Senior Finance Officer
- Link with the Logistics department to ensure that lease/service contract sums due are paid in a timely manner
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
Security
- Comply with Tdh Security Regulations

- Fully comply with Tdh Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEA are always upheld.
- Ensure adherence to Tdh standards and quality requirements in all the project activities.
- Adhere to and ensure the team under her/his responsibility follows Tdh administrative and logistical regulations and procedures.
- Deliver any other tasks as assigned by the Team Lead.
Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree/HND in finance and/or Accounting or Master’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Finance Officer or similar position
- Possession of ICAN, ANAN or any professional certification will be an added advantage
- Advanced IT knowledge: Microsoft Office, Accounting systems & SAGA.
Skills:
- Goal-oriented and proactive with very good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and organise work in a time-limited manner
- Capacity-building skills and demonstrable team-working skills
