As a Field Collection Officer, you will manage a portfolio of delinquent loans, conduct physical field visits, negotiate realistic payment plans, and recover outstanding funds.
Your goal is to minimize non-performing loans while maintaining professional and ethical customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Field Visits: Travel to residential and business locations of customers with overdue loan repayments to engage them directly.
Negotiation: Negotiate feasible, structured repayment plans or immediate debt settlements based on the customer's financial capacity.
Debt Recovery: Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly recovery targets are met or exceeded.
Communication: Follow up on delinquent accounts via phone calls, text messages, and emails when not in the field.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all field visits, customer interactions, promises to pay, and cash/transfer recoveries.
Verification: Conduct spot checks and field investigations on customer addresses or business status when required.
Compliance: Adhere strictly to microfinance regulatory guidelines, internal credit policies, and ethical debt collection laws.
Requirements
Education: OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: 1 to 2 years of proven experience in field recovery, debt collection, loan marketing, or customer service, preferably within a microfinance bank or fintech lender.
Local Knowledge: Deep familiarity with local routes, commercial hubs, and communities within the assigned working location.
Strong negotiation and persuasive communication skills.
High integrity, resilience, and patience under pressure.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
