Export Clearing/ Forwarding Senior Executive at Ojatee Consulting

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Export Clearing and Forwarding Officer with in-depth experience of pre-shipping priorities to consignment delivery. The ideal candidate should possess extensive expertise in export cargo clearing procedures and demonstrate proficiency in achieving objectives within designated budgetary constraints.

The successful candidate is expected to perform the following functions –

Document Management and Compliance

• Develop and compile necessary documentation for shipping and clearing materials for export.
• Ensure document screening before submission to customs and promptly address any deviations.

Regulatory Compliance and Relationship Management

• Ensure compliance with export regulations, tariff systems, insurance requirements, and customs-related matters.
• Foster positive relationships with customs authorities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.

Reporting

• Provide regular and accurate reports on cleared cargo and outstanding goods to the General Exports Directors.

Operational Efficiency and Improvement

• Provide daily updates on export clearance status and ensure shipments meet defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as set by management.

Coordination and Liaison

• Manage demurrages, port charges, and coordinate seamless movement of export consignments to destinations.

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Transport and Logistics or a related field. Certification from CILT or similar organizations is preferred, and a Master's Degree is considered advantageous.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a clearing and forwarding company in Nigeria.
• Proficiency in international documentation, including LC, shipping processes, and bill of lading.
• Familiarity with customs and excise HS Code and explanatory notes.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
