    Environmental Specialist

    Job Purpose

    • To provide geotechnical expertise in the investigation, design, and analysis of ground conditions for infrastructure and building projects.
    • The role includes conducting site investigations, preparing geotechnical reports, and supporting the design and construction teams with technical input related to soil, rock, and groundwater behavior.

    Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Conduct site investigations, including drilling supervision, sampling, in-situ testing, and borehole logging.
    • Perform geotechnical analysis and design (e.g., foundation design, slope stability, retaining walls, settlement analysis).
    • Prepare and review factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
    • Analyze laboratory test results and correlate them with field data.
    • Provide geotechnical input during planning, design, and construction stages of projects.
    • Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure geotechnical aspects are integrated.
    • Support foundation assessments and advise on appropriate foundation solutions.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Monitor and report on ground conditions during construction and provide technical support as needed.
    • Participate in risk assessments and mitigation related to geotechnical conditions.

    Requirements
    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
    • Minimum of [3–5] years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
    • Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and geotechnical site characterization.
    • Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, Settle3, or equivalent.
    • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Membership or eligibility for membership with a recognized engineering body (e.g., COREN, NSE, etc.).

    Key Competencies:

    • Experience with geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.
    • Familiarity with ground improvement techniques.
    • Knowledge of environmental geotechnics or earthquake engineering is a plus.
