    Driver (FMCG Distribution)

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and experienced Driver to support the efficient distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) to customers, distributors, and retail outlets.
    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation of goods, timely deliveries, proper vehicle maintenance, and adherence to all road safety regulations while ensuring excellent customer service.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Safely transport company products to customers, distributors, and retail outlets according to assigned delivery schedules.
    • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness.
    • Ensure products are loaded, transported, and delivered without damage or loss.
    • Verify delivery quantities against invoices and delivery notes.
    • Obtain customer signatures and proof of delivery for all completed deliveries.
    • Report delivery discrepancies, damages, or customer concerns promptly.
    • Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel records, mileage, and other transportation documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
    • Keep assigned vehicle clean and in good operating condition.
    • Report vehicle faults immediately and coordinate scheduled servicing and maintenance.
    • Support warehouse personnel during loading and offloading when required.
    • Ensure the security of company products and assets during transit.
    • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with customers and stakeholders.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • On-time delivery rate.
    • Vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
    • Zero preventable accidents.
    • Accuracy of delivery documentation.
    • Fuel efficiency and proper vehicle usage.
    • Customer satisfaction during deliveries.
    • Compliance with safety and company policies.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent.
    • Additional vocational or defensive driving training is an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years' professional driving experience, preferably within the FMCG, manufacturing, logistics, or distribution industry.
    • Proven experience driving delivery trucks or commercial vehicles.
    • Familiarity with interstate and intra-city road networks across Nigeria is an advantage.

    Certifications:

    • Valid Nigerian Driver's License (appropriate class for commercial vehicles).
    • Valid LASDRI Card (for Lagos-based operations).
    • FRSC Driver's Permit or certification is an added advantage.

    Required Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent knowledge of Nigerian road safety regulations.
    • Strong defensive driving skills.
    • Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
    • Ability to read and follow delivery schedules and routes.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Honest, dependable, and highly responsible.
    • Good time management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery timelines.
    • Physically fit and capable of loading or assisting with offloading where necessary.
    • High level of integrity and professionalism.

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequent travel within assigned territories and occasional interstate trips.
    • May involve early morning, evening, weekend, or public holiday deliveries based on business needs.
    • Outdoor work and prolonged periods of driving.

    Preferred Candidate Profile:

    • Age: 25 – 45 years (where legally applicable and consistent with company policy).
    • Strong understanding of FMCG distribution operations.
    • Demonstrated history of safe driving with no major traffic violations.
    • Customer-focused with a positive attitude and commitment to operational excellence.
