    Roles & Responsibilities

    • The role requires an individual with cognate experience of running a Business Membership Organisation preferably at a Directorate level and who possesses very strong communications expertise and experience.
    • The Individual should have a track record of working across different communications platforms especially in the context of the pandemic-driven changes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the strategic management of the organisation and the delivery of aligned organisational goals
    • Represents the Organisation, domestically and internationally, on the Boards of a number of organisations and social partners
    • Run, at a surplus, a subscription-based Business Membership Organisation that provides advisory services on tax, corporate and labour matters
    • Drive performance through attraction, engagement, and retention of employees
    • Act as a business leader, resource mobiliser, effective asset and financial manager to attract, allocate and manage resources
    • Provide timely and valuable information that supports the strategic priorities of employers of labour in the country
    • Work to highlight the Organisation’s initiatives in building trust with external stakeholders
    • A champion and activist for business and employer rights who is able to act as a voice for individual companies, members and sectoral groupings

    Government & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Maintain strategic stakeholder mapping for relevant sectors of government impacting or capable of impacting the organised private sector and employers of labour
    • Maintain and enhance organisational engagement and relationships with key government stakeholders 
    • Lead the planning for selected organisational meetings with key government stakeholders

    Accountability and Complexity:

    • Interface with a high number of stakeholders, both internal and external e.g. media, government departments, etc.  
    • In a highly-matrixed and complex environment, strong, positive relationships need to be fostered within the organisation, Management Committee, Governing Council and the wider society
    • Operate in an environment with a high degree of change that is fast paced, requiring resilience and flexibility
    • Support the development and implementation of the organisational strategy 

    Requirements
    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Management Sciences or Law. A Master’s degree in a Labour related field or a PhD may confer an advantage.
    • Minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience out of which 8 years must have been spent at an Executive or Senior management level

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Excellent communication skills - written and spoken are extremely important 
    • Cognate experience of running a Business Membership Organisation, preferably at a Directorate level with a good level of International exposure
    • Well versed in labour laws and able to maintain strategic relationships with labour organisations and proven track record in Industrial and Labour relations.
    • Strategic thinker with potential to devise and deliver long term, complex internal and external projects involving diverse businesses, functions, and cultures across a variety of industries
    • A technocrat in Labour relations and Human Resource Management
    • Ability to operate in a challenging media and stakeholder environment with proven ability to communicate confidently with media (traditional and digital) on labour and socio-economic issues
    • Proven issues management/crisis competency with the ability to operate calmly and effectively under pressure and deliver communications and negotiations needs against tight time frames; must demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills and be able to deal with ambiguity and handle sensitive situations
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the personal and professional authority and credibility to influence, advise and operate across all hierarchies of the society
    • A Negotiator, Conciliator, Mediator and Ambassador with demonstrated ability to successfully manage agencies and possess a DNA of activism in protecting enterprise rights with sufficient gravitas and presence
    • Understand the fundamentals of engaging key Government stakeholders, social partners, local and international organisations
    • Preferably not more than fifty-five (55) years old
