    Consultant for Video Documentary for YiW Project in Kano

    Job Purpose:

    • As the Strengthen Food Systems (YiW) project concludes, it is essential to document its impact and share the success stories of youth and women empowered across key agricultural value chains in Kano State. A professionally produced video documentary will capture the voices of participants and stakeholders, showcasing improved livelihoods, increased income opportunities, and strengthened food systems.As the Strengthen Food Systems (YiW) project concludes, it is essential to document its impact and share the success stories of youth and women empowered across key agricultural value chains in Kano State.     Key Responsibility:

    • Shooting and production of a high-quality, professionally produced 10 - 15 minute video that captures the essence, impact, and success stories of the Strengthening Food Systems Project in Kano state.
    • Shooting and production of short highlight reel of 2 – 3 minutes: A condensed, visually appealing version of the main documentary for use in presentations, social media, and advocacy events.
    • Shooting and production of three video clips of 30 - 60 seconds for social media : A series of short teaser videos tailored for platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp to generate interest and drive traffic to the full documentary.
    • Photography portfolio: A collection of 30 – 50 high-resolution, professionally edited photographs capturing project activities, portraits of beneficiaries, and key moments.
    • Raw footage and editable files: All original raw video files, audio interviews, and editable project files (in formats like .mp4, .mov, .wav, .psd/.prproj) handed over on a hard drive or via a secure digital storage link.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    Knowledge required:

    • Communications for Development (C4D): Insight into how video fits into larger advocacy, education, or behavior change strategies.
    • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of camera work, lighting, sound, and drone usage (even if not the main operator).
    • Language and Localization: Ability to work in multilingual settings, oversee translations, and ensure cultural accuracy.
    • Branding and Style Guides: Experience aligning video products with organisational or donor branding guidelines (e.g., WFP, UN, WHO, etc.).
    • Development Sector Context: Knowledge of humanitarian/development issues (e.g., food security, health, education, gender, youth empowerment).
    • Experience required: -
    • Proven Track Record in Video Production: Experience developing and producing documentaries, especially for NGOs, international organisations, or social impact projects.
    • Field Production Experience: Experience conducting shoots in local or rural communities.
    • Interviewing Skills: Ability to lead or guide interviews to elicit emotional and informative responses.
    • Project Management: Capable of managing timelines, teams (camera crew, editors), and client expectations.
    • Post-Production Supervision: Understanding of editing work-flows, voice overs, subtitling, translations, and branding requirements.

    Skills:

    • Strong Storytelling Ability: Ability to craft compelling narratives from raw footage, interviews, and facts.
    • Visual Creativity: Ability to think cinematically and bring abstract ideas to life.
    • Filming: Proficiency with camera operation, lighting, sound, and framing.
    • Video Editing: Solid grasp of video editing software.
    • Post-Production: Solid grasp of color correction, sound mixing, subtitling, motion graphics.

    Language:

    Fluency in Hausa and English language is strongly required.

    Deliverables:

    • One high-quality video documentary of 10 - 15 minutes with English translation.
    • Three short highlight reels of 2 - 3 minutes.
    • Three short clips of 30 - 60 seconds for social media teasers.
    • 30 - 50 high-quality photographs.
    • Provision of the entire field video rushes.
