Job Summary
The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all tax regulations, statutory obligations, and regulatory requirements applicable to the company. The role oversees timely filing of taxes, statutory returns, regulatory reporting, and implementation of internal compliance controls in line with applicable laws and corporate governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Management
- Ensure accurate computation and timely filing of all company taxes including Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and other applicable levies.
- Liaise with tax authorities and regulatory agencies on tax matters and audits.
- Monitor tax law changes and advise management on compliance requirements and implications.
- Coordinate tax audits, investigations, and reconciliations.
Statutory Filings & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns to relevant regulatory bodies.
- Maintain compliance with corporate regulatory requirements and licensing obligations.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports in accordance with applicable laws.
- Maintain accurate records of all regulatory filings and compliance documentation.
Internal Compliance & Governance
- Develop and implement compliance policies and internal control procedures.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and risk assessments.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and company policies.
- Provide compliance advisory support to management and departments.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Liaison
- Serve as the primary contact for government agencies, auditors, and regulators.
- Coordinate responses to regulatory enquiries and compliance inspections.
- Support external auditors during statutory audits.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare periodic compliance and tax status reports for management.
- Maintain compliance calendars and ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, CITN, or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in tax compliance and statutory reporting, preferably within manufacturing or corporate organizations.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory regulations.
- Experience dealing with regulatory bodies and tax authorities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting/compliance systems.
