    Commercial Director - Design

    Job Description

    • Andela is looking for an entrepreneurial leader who can build a Design Practice to help deploy Design Talent and Solutions for our global clients.
    • You will be responsible for leveraging your expertise with digital design solutions to generate a collection of offerings, create a go-to -market plan, and develop strategic partnerships in the space. Working closely with the leadership team you will identify areas of growth, lobbying for investment and resources when necessary. We are looking for someone who has a strong customer-centric philosophy combined with a growth mentality.
    • You'll maintain and develop operational rigor by implementing effective and repeatable processes to successfully scale our business. In doing so, you’ll work closely with the Heads of Enterprise and SMB and a number of other functional leaders across Sales, Marketing, and Talent.

    Responsibilities

    • Work directly with clients to understand, document, and clarify needs related to product design, and provide Talent / solutions to those clients.
    • Influence product strategy for the design portfolio of products/solutions and make a strong impact on execution and quality of services.
    • Build relationships with cross-functional team members and executives, effectively communicating process, goals and vision for the Design Practice.
    • Working closely with our Enterprise and SMB Client Services, Sales, Marketing, Product and Talent teams, you will own the strategy and execution for driving growth leveraging Design talent/solutions.  
    • The teams you will work with:
      • Enterprise and SMB Leadership: Strategy and Go to Market
      • Talent: Assess the Supply, forecast the capabilities required
      • Marketing: Go to Market plan, Outbound Strategy, Thought leadership and Content generation
      • Client Services: Identify the opportunities to deploy additional Design capabilities including but not limited to UI, UX, and Product Design talent solutions
      • Sales: RFPs, RFIs, Proposals, Solution Design
    • You will own the full P&L for the Design portfolio, including annual budgeting and planning, headcount planning and G&A spend.
    • You will provide regular forecasting on monthly and quarterly growth for the business.
    • Engage with resources within our Talent network to develop implementation accelerators that will differentiate us in the market.

    Requirements

    • 10+ years of customer-facing experience, preferably in agencies
    • 3+ years in a leadership role at an Agency or Consulting 
    • 5+ years working in the Design space (UI, UX, Product Design)
    • Experience leveraging an existing client base to drive portfolio growth
    • Must demonstrate strong project management experience across a diverse business base
    • Experience with managing a $10 Mn+ business growing over 50% each year
    • High EQ with empathetic/servant leadership style and strong critical thinking.
    • Experience operating cross-functionally to drive strategic initiatives that impact product roadmap and general business direction.
    • Highly strategic thinker, able to inform our Global GTM motion on where to invest in product and Geo expansion.
    • Proven ability to hit and exceed revenue goals on a consistent basis and a deep forecasting background.
    • Comfortable presenting to C-level decision-makers as well as to VPs of design/product/marketing / digital.
    • You have the ability to network inside and outside the company to obtain the resources and information you need to drive an initiative.
    • You have a proven track record for working well across teams and with external partners to solve hard problems; you are a model for intra-company collaboration.
    • You have a passion for talent marketplaces and remote work; previous marketplace experience and/or software engineering industry experience is highly valuable.
