    Civil Engineer (Road & Highway)

    Job Purpose: 

    The Road Design & Supervision Engineer is responsible for the design, review, and supervision of road infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, applicable standards, and project specifications. The role provides technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and design to construction supervision and project completion.

    Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for road infrastructure projects.
    • Develop and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software.
    • Interpret survey, geotechnical, and traffic data for design development.
    • Design road alignments, pavements, drainage systems, culverts, and related infrastructure.
    • Ensure designs comply with client requirements, statutory regulations, and engineering standards.
    • Provide technical support and recommendations during project planning and execution.
    • Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
    • Conduct site inspections and monitor the quality and progress of works.
    • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals.
    • Identify technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
    • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and relevant stakeholders.
    • Prepare technical reports, site inspection reports, and progress updates.
    • Support quality assurance, quality control, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance.
    • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and contract administration as required.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Design Office Manager.

    Education and Experience

    • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in road design and construction supervision.
    • Experience working on highway, urban road, bridge, or transportation infrastructure projects.
    • Previous experience with consulting engineering firms is an advantage.
    • Professional registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and membership with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) is a Must.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Working knowledge of road design standards and construction specifications.
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, survey data, and technical reports.
    • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and HSE requirements.
    • Knowledge of relevant design codes and engineering best practices.
