    Child Protection and Safety Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Provide support in the design of child protection activities, plan and implement programmes in these fields and monitor the impact and results of these activities
    • Provide professional counseling services for children with protection concerns by addressing the child’s concerns
    • Prepare Counseling reports, documentation of lessons learnt
    • Document programme learning and ensuring it contributes to the organizational advocacy
    • Maintain an up to date database on counseling students
    • Ensure regular follow-up visits to monitor the students and document any changes identified
    • Builds and maintains effective relationships, with the students, and be approachable, good listener, easy to talk with
    • Widely shares their personal vision for Save the Children, engages and motivates others
    • Future orientated, thinks strategically
    • To undertake, where appropriate, other roles, which may arise either in the department or in the wider school environment.
    • Any other duties relating to the job as required from time to time by the Director

    Candidate Requirements

    • Candidates should possess a Counseling or Psychology and other related field (i.e. education, legal, human rights and humanitarian law). with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children in desirable
    • Registered with the child protection Nigerian Association
    • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English
    • Past experience implementing child protection programmes at officer level and knowledge of community based protection approaches, preferably including experience in participatory approaches and child participation methodologies is desirable.
    • Ability to use a wide range of child counseling methodologies and support innovative approaches to problem solving
    • Strong self- starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing and circumstances and priorities
    • Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions and activities for the student and staff
    • Commitment to save the children’s child protection policy
    • Familiarity with protection mandates and other related international instrument.
    • Knowledge of the latest, development and trends in emergency, human rights, child rights, child protection, children in armed conflicts, mine awareness, humanitarian affairs and related are areas.
