    Chief Operations Officer

    Qualification:  

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Engineering, Aviation or any related discipline
    • M.Sc./MBA Degree is an added advantage.
    • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP)/Operations Management /Supply Chain Management

    Preferred Experience:

    • The ideal candidate must have at least 10-12 years cognate experience in the Aviation or any related industry with at least 5 of those years at an executive level.
    • This includes progressive responsibilities, managing and directing the delivery of a broad program portfolio, recommending, and advocating policy changes, evaluating and implementing alternative program delivery systems and methods.
    • Demonstrated senior-level experience in leading and mentoring professionals and skilled staff.
    • Requirement, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or relevant role
    • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing, UAV Operations, Aviation etc.
    • Strategic thinker with a strong diagnostic mind
    • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
    • Goal-oriented and results-driven.
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
    • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
    • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of organizations and management, including principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
    • Knowledge of the practices and methods of managing a large-scale and complex technical operation.
    • Knowledge of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority regulations
    • Ability to plan, develop, implement and administer goals, organize and supervise effective and efficient work programs; research, analyze and evaluate new service delivery methods, procedures and techniques.
    • Strong ability to analyze problems, identify and provide alternative solutions supporting established goals and project consequences of proposed actions.
    • Ability to administer a complex departmental budget and allocate resources cost-effectively and efficiently.
    • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, co-workers, the public, contractors and regulatory agencies, and represent the company in a professional, positive manner.
    • Knowledge in organizing, managing and evaluating the operations of complex modern surveillance systems.
    • Communicate in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing.
    • Deal effectively and courteously with the public and stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Designs and implements business operations strategies, plans and procedures.
    • Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth.
    • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.
    • Meets with and reports to the MD about the company’s daily operations, as well as about the MD’s plans for any upcoming adjustments or developments to business operations strategy, or other company goals and objectives
    • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (Operations, Maintenance, Marketing, Finance, HR etc.)
    • Liaising between the organization and clients, for quality assurance purposes.
    • Ensuring the Finance Department/CFO raises investments and funding for the business to facilitate operational growth.
    • Ensuring that all employees, including senior management, have access to mentoring and coaching, to optimize motivation levels.
    • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication.
    • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
    • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
    • Manage relationships with partners/vendors.
    • Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement and directs the implementation of changes. 
    • Ensuring effective relationships are established and maintained with regulatory agencies and other outside agencies to carry out assignments and projects.
    • Create departmental programs, policies and activities.
    • Negotiates and resolves sensitive, significant, and controversial issues.
    • Ensures effective relationships with stakeholders in order to develop policies, systems, and processes for effectively managing emergency operations.
    • Responds to and resolve sensitive inquiries and complaints from both external and internal sources.
    • Provides strong and engaged leadership and direction to staff under his/her direction to ensure effective operations and personnel performance, including administration of disciplinary and termination procedures.
    • Assists in preparing, justifying and administering the organization’s budgets; monitors budget performance against projected performance to ensure that budget objectives are met; and initiates or recommends corrective action on budget variances.
    • Spearheading strategies to steer the company’s future in a positive direction.
    • Driving the company’s operating capabilities to surpass customer satisfaction and retention, and company goals.
    • Controlling company costs, and introducing tactical initiatives to address theft and other losses.
    • Monitoring invoices, money handling procedures, accounting, and bank processes.
    • Preparing timely and accurate financial performance reports.
    • Overseeing marketing initiatives and implementing better business practices.
    • Completing performance reviews in a prudent manner.
    • Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies, and collaborating with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
    • Measuring the efficiency of an organisation’s operational processes and taking steps to improve them.
    • Developing strategies for the growth of the organisation and making sure they are implemented.
    • Liaising between the organisation and clients, for quality assurance purposes.
    • Empowering the operational team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete operations initiatives.
    • Coordinating with human resources (HR) to ensure the success of recruitment and retention policies and processes.
    • Coordinates the operations, safety, security and maintenance matters.
    • Regularly reviewing operations to ensure that these meet the required standards and recommend changes where necessary.
    • Partnering with other C-level executives to accomplish short and long-term operational goals.
    • Overseeing the operations of the organisation and making any necessary changes to meet business goals and projections.
    • Assists the Managing Director in implementing programs and developing strategic initiatives to accomplish the goals of the system.
    • Recommends additions and changes in regulations and policies governing the use of Drones, including the protection of public safety/security, and operations of the system.
    • Manages the organizational structure required to accomplish the mission and objectives of AWS effectively and efficiently.
