    Chief Economist (Client Recruitment)

    Role Summary

    • The Chief Economist will be primarily responsible for providing strategic insights on various macroeconomic trends and banking developments (both local and international) to the Executive Management team and other key stakeholders.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities

    • Provide key strategic insights on macroeconomic issues and developments in the banking/financial services ecosystem.
    • Provide guidance on the strategy and policy of the Bank based on macroeconomic developments.
    • Actively drive policy formulation, analysis and communicating to the outside world, leveraging strong knowledge of banking/financial/investment/economic policy domain.
    • Stay abreast of the market, industry, competition and regulatory developments to contribute to the enhancement of the Bank’s offerings.
    • Conduct periodic analysis and presentation of the economic outlook to the Bank’s key stakeholders.
    • Work cross-functionally to ensure the synergies within SBUs are harnessed to the Bank’s competitive advantage.

    Required Experience and Capabilities

    • Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, or related field. PHD is desirable.
    • 15+ years’ experience in economic research, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
    • Sound understanding of government economic policies, laws and regulations, fiscal and monetary policies etc.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
    • Strategic thinker with a global economic perspective.
