Chief Accountant (construction) at eRecruiter Nigeria

Our client is a multinational construction company based out of Lagos, and they are looking for a Chief Accountant to join their dynamic team. The Chief Accountant is responsible for all financial and managerial accounting functions. They're in charge of preparing financial and performance reports, assisting departments with annual budgets and reviews, internal control, and tax studies, among other things.

Responsibilities

• Must have oversight of monthly close, reviewing journal entries, reconciliation, and variance explanation
• Ensuring all accounting transaction are performed correctly on time
• Confirm transaction are made accurately and entered in the accounting system
• Ensure suppliers invoice and reconciled and payments made
• Reconcile financial transaction every month
• Validate and reconcile inventory and fixed asset accounts
• ​Liaise with the department head to collect data for preparing budget and forecast
• Ensure collect data is loaded in analytical software
• Compare actual with a budget and determine the reason for the variances monthly
• Prepare year-end financial statement
• Ensure weekly bank reports generated by the IT department are properly reconciled with the bank statement
• Prepare a report for the finance management team
• Check cost center expenses and compare them against budget
• Validate online expense claim and process forward for approval

Requirements

• Should have a minimum of 8 years working experience in a related field; construction experience is an added advantage.
• The ideal candidate should have a tertiary degree
• The ideal candidate should have experience or qualifications in Auditing & Finance
• Ability to work with ERPs such as Business Central, Navision
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive and tactful manner. Adhere to strict confidentiality involving, staffing concerns, student matters, and internal/external correspondence.
• Take decisive action on opportunities to achieve specific outcomes. Convey a sense of urgency when appropriate and persist in the face of obstacles. Get results and adds value.
• Must have excellent written & communication skills
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) along with other accounting software.
• Ability to plan, manage and follow through on assignments and communicate at all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner
