Job Description:

• Our client in the Oil & Gas industry is looking for a Business Development officer with a legal background who will collaborate closely with the Managing Director (MD) and senior management team to guide strategic decision-making. This individual will provide legal expertise to ensure that contracts and business opportunities align with both company goals and legal requirements. The role will also involve identifying emerging risks and opportunities in the industry, particularly with regard to contract execution and negotiations.
• The ideal candidate will combine business development acumen with a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape in the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the oil and gas sector, focusing on EPC projects and partnerships.
• Leverage legal expertise to evaluate and mitigate risks in potential contracts and negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers.
• Work closely with the MD and management team to provide legal insights that guide strategic decision-making and business development efforts.
• Analyze and assess market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities within the oil and gas industry.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
• Advise the company on the legal aspects of entering into new projects, including potential risks and liabilities.
• Monitor the competitive landscape and identify opportunities for growth, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including IOCs, regulators, and industry leaders, to support the company's business development efforts.
• Provide ongoing strategic and legal advice during the execution of contracts and projects to ensure compliance and successful delivery.
• Support the MD in guiding the company on matters related to compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.
• Conduct market and legal research to ensure the company remains well-positioned in the evolving oil and gas landscape.

Qualifications & Skills:

• At least 5 years of experience in business development within the oil and gas sector, with a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks that govern the industry.
• Proven experience in identifying and securing new business opportunities in EPC projects, with a solid track record of negotiating complex contracts.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas contracts, including EPC, service agreements, and joint venture agreements.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners, and senior management.
• Ability to provide strategic guidance on risk management, compliance, and contract negotiation.
• Business acumen with the ability to align legal advice and business development strategies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM/business development tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex legal and business challenges.
