We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and execution-driven Brand Marketing Manager to join the Divest team, fully dedicated to launching and growing our product, Cardplug.
Cardplug is our digital platform that allows users to securely and instantly convert unwanted gift cards into cash by connecting them to a network of verified vendors.
In this role, you’ll take full ownership of Cardplug’s brand presence — from defining its identity and positioning to driving awareness, acquisition, and loyalty. You’ll be the brand’s champion, making Cardplug a household name in the digital exchange space.
Job Expectations
Develop and execute Cardplug’s end-to-end brand marketing strategy — identity, positioning, awareness, acquisition, and retention.
Craft a compelling brand identity, tone of voice, and messaging for a competitive market.
Build and grow Cardplug’s presence across digital and offline touchpoints.
Plan and run high-impact campaigns (online and offline) to drive traffic, downloads, and conversions.
Set up CRM/email strategies to engage users post-transaction and re-activate dormant users.
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform brand positioning and campaigns.
Identify and manage partnerships, collaborations, and affiliate opportunities to drive credibility and usage.
Define Cardplug’s brand voice, tone, and visual language in collaboration with designers and creatives.
Oversee content creation across social, video, and community channels to ensure brand consistency.
Track and analyze performance using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Ads, etc.) and present insights to leadership.
Monitor social listening, user sentiment, and community feedback to evolve messaging and strengthen brand trust.
Stay up to date with trends in fintech, crypto, gift cards, youth culture, and social media.
Critical Competencies
4+ years’ experience in brand or digital marketing, ideally in fintech, crypto, or high-growth consumer tech.
Demonstrated success launching and growing a new product or startup brand during its early stages.
Hands-on ability to plan, oversee, and create engaging content (social, video, newsletters, threads, etc.).
Proven track record running influencer partnerships and paid social media campaigns.
Strong data orientation — comfortable measuring KPIs and using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Ads, or similar.
Experience with or understanding of digital wallets, gift cards, or exchange platforms.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project execution skills.
Cultural Competencies
Entrepreneurial and experimental — thrives in a startup environment.
Bias for action and growth, not afraid to fail fast and learn quickly.
Mission-driven and passionate about expanding financial access in Africa.
You work well with people of different backgrounds, identities, values and cultures
You listen well, seek to understand and respond with empathy
You give and take constructive feedback to and from colleagues at any level
You are extremely curious and love working collaboratively
