Bio-medical Technician at Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul Hospital

Responsibilities

• Performing preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs on a wide range of clinical equipment to ensure functionality, as described by Indeed and this source.
• Testing, calibrating, and certifying that medical machinery meets safety and regulatory standards, such as electrical safety tests on patient-facing equipment
• Installing new equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions, often under time-sensitive emergency conditions
• Keeping accurate, detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Educating doctors, nurses and oter clinical professionalson the safe and proper operation of medical devices.

Requirements

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related electronics field
• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician(CBET) and a member of the relevant professional body ABETN is preferred
• Strong understanding of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, and physiology.
• Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex, faulty machinery.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varied hospital environments.
