Job Summary

• West Swiss Hotel is seeking a friendly, skilled, and customer-focused Bartender to join its Food & Beverage team.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining the bar area, managing bar stock, and providing professional and courteous service to guests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards and guest preferences.
• Prepare cocktails, mocktails, beers, wines, spirits, soft drinks, juices, and other beverages.
• Take guest orders accurately and provide prompt and professional service.
• Recommend beverages and assist guests with menu selections when required.
• Ensure consistency in the preparation, presentation, and quality of drinks.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and attractive bar area throughout service.
• Set up the bar before service and ensure all required beverages, garnishes, glassware, and equipment are available.
• Monitor bar inventory and report low-stock items to the supervisor.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and arranging beverages and bar supplies.
• Maintain proper control of bottles, mixers, garnishes, and other bar items to minimise wastage and losses.
• Follow approved recipes, portion standards, and serving procedures.
• Operate the POS system accurately and process guest bills and payments as required.
• Ensure all guest transactions are properly recorded.
• Handle cash and other payment methods responsibly where applicable.
• Check identification and comply with applicable regulations regarding the service of alcoholic beverages.
• Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation standards within the bar.
• Clean and maintain bar equipment, refrigerators, counters, shelves, glassware, and other service items.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond politely to requests and complaints.
• Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with guests while respecting their privacy.
• Coordinate with Waiters, Restaurant Staff, Kitchen Staff, and the F&B Supervisor to ensure smooth service.
• Support beverage service during conferences, private events, parties, and other hotel functions.
• Report damaged equipment, spills, breakages, shortages, or unusual incidents to the supervisor.
• Follow all hotel policies relating to hygiene, safety, security, responsible alcohol service, and customer service.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Bar Manager, F&B Manager, or designated supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE / WAEC / NECO.
• 1–3 years' experience as a Bartender, Bar Attendant, or similar role.
• Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, lounge, club, or reputable bar is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, mocktails, and other beverages.
• Ability to prepare drinks accurately and maintain consistent quality.
• Good knowledge of bar hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Friendly, courteous, and professional personality.
• Good attention to detail.
• Honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy bar environment.
• Good personal grooming and hygiene.
• Ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and during special events.
• Bartending or hospitality certification will be an added advantage.
