As a Banksman at APM Terminals, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe movement of container handling equipment and vehicles within the terminal.
You will be responsible for guiding drivers, operators, and crane movements to prevent accidents and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and guide drivers and equipment operators during container loading and unloading operations.
Ensure safe maneuvering of vehicles in congested or tight spaces within the terminal.
Maintain constant communication with crane operators, drivers, and ground staff to ensure safety.
Use hand signals or communication tools (e.g., radios) to clearly and effectively guide movements.
Monitor surroundings for any potential hazards and take preventive action when necessary.
Ensure adherence to terminal safety procedures and report any unsafe acts or conditions.
Conduct pre-shift equipment and area checks to ensure operational readiness.
Requirements
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in terminal operations or as a banksman is an advantage.
Strong understanding of safety procedures and traffic management in industrial environments.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely.
Physically fit and alert, with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
