    Gearman

    Job Purpose

    • The Gearman plays a key role in supporting vessel and yard operations by handling lifting gear and securing equipment. 
    • The role ensures that all tools and equipment used for cargo handling are in proper working condition, correctly positioned, and safely applied during container operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Handle and secure lifting gear, twistlocks, and other cargo handling equipment during vessel operations.
    • Assist crane operators and stevedores in the correct attachment and detachment of lifting devices.
    • Inspect gear before and after use to identify wear, defects, or safety risks and report findings to the supervisor.
    • Follow instructions from the vessel supervisor or foreman for smooth and safe workflow.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of gear storage areas.
    • Adhere strictly to safety standards and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Respond quickly to operational needs during loading and unloading activities, including gear changes and emergency adjustments.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Minimum of a high school certificate or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in port operations, stevedoring, or a related field is an advantage.
    • Basic understanding of lifting gear and cargo handling equipment.
    • Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor conditions.
    • Strong awareness of safety procedures and teamwork.
    • Willingness to work in rotating shifts.

    Crane Manager, MHC

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure all planned preventive and corrective maintenance activities are executed safely, aiming to reduce risks to as low as reasonably possible.
    • Ensure the safety of all technicians within the team, leading by example in behaviors and practices.
    • Ensure all equipment under responsibility is maintained in accordance with local legislation and standards specified by APMT global functions.
    • Ensure all preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and inspection activities are completed efficiently based on calendar, running hours, condition, etc.
    • Ensure KPIs for equipment availability, reliability, cost, etc., are met for equipment under responsibility.
    • Ensure all required equipment KPIs and measures are correctly recorded and reported as required.
    • Ensure maintenance strategies are developed for all equipment under responsibility, including requirements specified by Global Asset Maintenance.
    • Lead the continuous review and improvement of equipment maintenance strategies, considering major and repetitive equipment failures.
    • Accountable for ensuring the integrity of all equipment, considering the age and service of equipment, through the development and execution of appropriate preventive, predictive, and inspection activities.
    • Manage a risk-based approach to pending corrective maintenance, considering the compounded risk to safety and operations through multiple failures or defects.
    • Develop the budget for all planned preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment under control.
    • Proactively track and manage maintenance costs for equipment, intervening when costs escalate and identifying ways to reduce costs.

    Requirements

    • University Degree in a related field.
    • Extensive experience with LIEBHERR mobile harbour cranes.
    • Well-versed in international standards for the safe and reliable operation of terminal mobile harbour cranes, with particular expertise in LIEBHERR models.
    • Strong leadership experience and ability to inspire and motivate teams.
    • Experience in service-focused roles that require effective stakeholder management.
    • Deep understanding of asset maintenance planning, including metrics, principles, processes, and requirements.
    • Structured, self-driven, and result-oriented, with a focus on achieving goals.
    • A commitment to quality, with a keen eye for detail in all tasks.
    • Culturally aware, with experience in diverse, multicultural environments, and a respectful approach to working with employees, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

    Reach Stacker / Empty Handler Operator

    Job Purpose

    • We are looking for a skilled Reach Stacker/Empty Handler Operator to safely operate container handling equipment used in stacking, moving, and organizing empty containers within the terminal. 
    • The role is essential to ensuring the smooth flow of operations and adherence to safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate reach stackers or empty container handlers to load, unload, and relocate empty containers in the yard.
    • Follow instructions from the yard supervisor and terminal operating system to carry out movements efficiently.
    • Conduct daily pre-operational checks and report any mechanical or safety issues.
    • Maintain accurate records of container movements and report any damages or discrepancies.
    • Ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with safety guidelines and terminal procedures.
    • Cooperate with ground staff and signalers (banksmen) to avoid incidents and ensure safe maneuvering.
    • Assist in basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment as needed.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • High school certificate or equivalent.
    • Valid license or certification to operate heavy container handling equipment.
    • 1–2 years of experience operating reach stackers or empty handlers in a terminal or similar environment.
    • Strong safety awareness and understanding of terminal operations.
    • Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.

    Banksman

    Job Purpose

    • As a Banksman at APM Terminals, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe movement of container handling equipment and vehicles within the terminal.
    • You will be responsible for guiding drivers, operators, and crane movements to prevent accidents and ensure adherence to safety procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct and guide drivers and equipment operators during container loading and unloading operations.
    • Ensure safe maneuvering of vehicles in congested or tight spaces within the terminal.
    • Maintain constant communication with crane operators, drivers, and ground staff to ensure safety.
    • Use hand signals or communication tools (e.g., radios) to clearly and effectively guide movements.
    • Monitor surroundings for any potential hazards and take preventive action when necessary.
    • Ensure adherence to terminal safety procedures and report any unsafe acts or conditions.
    • Conduct pre-shift equipment and area checks to ensure operational readiness.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Prior experience in terminal operations or as a banksman is an advantage.
    • Strong understanding of safety procedures and traffic management in industrial environments.
    • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions precisely.
    • Physically fit and alert, with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Willingness to work in rotating shifts.
