Job Summary

The AVP of Investment Banking will be responsible for driving profitability and meeting performance targets by developing the relationships, tactics, and business plans necessary to realize revenue, earnings growth, and increase shareholders’ value.

Responsibilities

• Actively source/originate Investment Banking (IB) transactions, clients, projects, and mandates.
• Develop and maintain a portfolio of revenue-generating Investment Banking deals from corporate, commercial, institutional, and HNI market segments.
• Good understanding of the asset management and investment banking industries; products, services, and capabilities.
• Client analytics - In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, strategies, businesses, financial performance, industry outlook/trends, and general macro/economic issues/trends.
• Maintenance and retention of a portfolio of IB clients.
• Build and retain strong, sustainable internal and external client relationships.
• Be up to speed with market/regulatory developments and communicate the changes in the market to clients in good time as well as ensure that the information communicated is accurate and comprehensive.
• Identify the target market and develop strategy papers on market entry and relevance for the deals- execution Team.
• Coordinate presentations and presentation teams working with the execution Team.
• Actively participate in IB Transactions client onboarding processes.
• Ensure impeccable database of clients and relationship documentation at every point in time.
• Leverage clouts to identify and act on referrals typically in relation to Investment Banking mandates.
• Enforcement of governance and control standards for IB deals across the business and ensure compliance to risk management best practices by assisting the team with regulatory inquiries, audits, risk reviews, and compliance checks.
• Ensure quality control on all documents and correspondence going out of the department.
• Effectively supervise the Investment Banking Team (Deal Origination and Execution).
• Provide leadership, professional development, and mentorship for reporting staff.
• Supervise and train junior bankers in terms of origination, technical, and execution skills.

Requirements

• 7+ years’ experience in relevant financial services experience (investment banking, financial market depository, securities clearing, experience required.
• Capital raising experience in public capital market is required.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence key internal stakeholders and clients.
• Good management resource planning and resource coordination skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions and levels of seniority
