The Auto Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks to ensure optimal performance, safety, and minimal downtime.
The role requires strong mechanical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
The successful candidate will carry out routine servicing of engines, gearboxes, braking systems, suspension systems, and drivetrains on heavy-duty trucks.
They will diagnose mechanical faults using manual checks and diagnostic tools and implement effective repair solutions.
The mechanic will also conduct preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations and fleet maintenance schedules.
The role involves inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness, identifying worn or damaged components, and replacing parts as required. The Auto Mechanic will maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, report recurring faults, and advise management on parts replacement and vehicle condition.
Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards is essential at all times.
The candidate must be able to work independently or as part of a fleet maintenance team and may be required to respond to breakdowns or emergency repairs when necessary.
Requirements
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks
Strong knowledge of diesel engines and truck mechanical systems
A technical certification or trade test is an added advantage
Ability to work in a workshop and field environment
Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
