Job Summary

The Auto Engineer / Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of farm and operational vehicles, ensuring they remain in good working condition. The role also requires the ability to drive different types of vehicles when necessary, including Ford buses, Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks, tricycles, and motorcycles. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and demonstrate strong technical and mechanical skills.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles.
• Carry out routine servicing and preventive maintenance.
• Repair or replace faulty parts such as engines, brakes, clutches, transmissions, and suspension systems.
• Perform engine overhaul and major mechanical repairs when necessary.
• Ensure all vehicles are kept in safe and efficient operating condition.

Vehicle Inspection

• Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems.
• Monitor vehicle performance and recommend necessary repairs or servicing.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Driving Duties

• Drive company vehicles when required, including:
• Ford buses
• Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks
• Tricycles
• Motorcycles
• Transport staff, materials, and equipment safely when assigned.

Record Keeping

• Maintain records of vehicle servicing, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
• Report major mechanical issues to management promptly.

Workshop and Tools Management

• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
• Ensure the workshop area is clean and organized.

Emergency Repairs

• Respond quickly to vehicle breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs when possible.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Auto Engineer or Automotive Mechanic.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, and overhaul vehicle engines and mechanical systems.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive buses, pickup trucks, tricycles, and motorcycles.
• Good knowledge of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic record-keeping ability.

Preferred Skills

• Experience maintaining commercial or farm vehicles.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning.
• Ability to work in rural or farm environments.
