    Audio-visual Consultant

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The consultant will:

    • Develop at least six (6) compelling human-interest angle scripts for video documentaries
    • With the scripts approved, document in video and photography, at least 6 success story video documentaries in selected project areas, in different states (Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Lagos, Niger, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Maidugri)
    • Produce final copies of captivating six(6) video documentaries along with media assets and footage collected from the selected project states
    • Develop twenty-four (24) 1-minute beneficiary features (video bites) cut out of the full-length video documentaries for each project area
    • Deliver to UN Women, six (6) captivating collections of high-definition photos that tell stories
    • Produce six (6) photo booklets for each project area covered
    • Participate in periodic technical meetings with the UN Women team
       

    Key Deliverables

    1. Six (6) 15-minute engaging and compelling video documentary clips for each selected project area

    • Character-driven, short-length documentaries that focus on the stories of real people will be developed to tell the story of UN Women’s interventions and impact in each of the project areas that will be identified. Each of the stories will be told from the perspective of selected beneficiaries of the projects.

    2. Twenty-four (24) 1-minute beneficiary features (video bites) will also be cut out of the full-length documentary for the 6 project areas (8 video bites in all)

    3. Six (6) Captivating collections of Photos for each project area

    • Deliver to UN Women in soft copies, a captivating collection of photos that show the impact of UN Women’s work in each area. The plan is to have these captivating inter-connected series of photos tell their own success stories from a human angle.

    4. Six (6) Narrative Photo Booklet for each project area

    • Deliver to UN Women, photo booklets that contain narrative series of photos that showcase UN Women’s impact in the selected project areas.

    Functional Competencies

    • Demonstrated experience in multi-state video production projects
    • Excellent hands-on video production and photography skills
    • Be able to use his or her own equipment for the assignment
    • Experience in innovative human-interest storytelling.
    • Demonstrated experience in innovative and professional video editing
    • Advanced competency in audio-visual production software, including Premiere Pro, After Effect and Photoshop
    • Sound expertise and knowledge of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
    • Experience in working in remote communities in Nigeria
    • Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to detail.
    • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
    • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
    • Ability to undertake extensive consultation
    • Demonstrates strong analytical oral and written communication skills.

    Reporting / Supervision

    • The consultant will report to the National Communications Officer
    • UN Women will lead on identification of beneficiaries and states to cover

    Required Skills and Experience

    Education:

    • University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or other related field

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years of equivalent professional work experience in audio-visual production
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing dissemination of social media assets, i.e., infographics, animations and short videos
    • Demonstrated social media messaging and reach result analytics skills
    • Experience in the usage of social media add-on applications, e.g., Hootsuite
    • Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to detail
    • Ability to write clearly and concisely
    • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members
    • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
    • Knowledge of UN Women/UNDP rules and procedures is an advantage

    Language:

    • Fluency in oral and written English is required. 
    • Working knowledge of any other UN languages is an asset.
