Job Summary

• The Associate, Counsel role will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of OTC derivatives transactions in order to provide legal services in respect of the Corporation’s Treasury transactions.
• A good understanding of Project Finance, general legal administration and other contracts will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal support to the Treasury team in the following:
• OTC derivatives transactions including but not limited to Swaps, (Currency & Interest, Total Return Swaps)
• Loan-linked hedging solutions
• Debt Capital Markets such as Borrowing and Bond Issues.
• Structured Finance Solutions (Risk Participation and Credit Linked Notes)
• Repos and Securitization
• Advising on the practical impact of US, EU and UK regulatory developments relating to AFC’s Treasury business transactions.
• Good understanding of Project Finance, Debt, Equity and Project Development.
• Legal support to the Financial Advisory team 
• Ensure preservation of AFC’s Immunities and Privileges in transactions and Agreements

Education

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
• Advanced degree in Law
• French/civil law qualification and/or experience is desirable.

Experience

• 6 – 8 years minimum relevant experience
• Post qualification experience with a legal or financial institution
• Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory while oral and written fluency in other international languages will be an added advantage.
