    Acting Head Litigation

    Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will (but is not limited to):

    • Oversee and manage the litigation department\\\'s day-to-day operations.
    • Lead and supervise litigation team members, ensuring efficient case management.
    • Develop and implement litigation strategies for commercial and corporate cases.
    • Represent clients in high courts, courts of appeal, and other relevant tribunals.
    • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and legal opinions.
    • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on litigation matters.
    • Manage case timelines, ensuring deadlines are met for filings and court appearances.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal procedures and court requirements.
    • Coordinate with other departments and senior management to align litigation strategies.
    • Monitor and analyze the progress of active litigation cases.
    • Manage client relationships and provide regular case updates.

    Requirement

    • Qualified to practice as a legal practitioner for at – least 10 years or more.
    • Minimum consistent and verifiable experience of day-to-day litigation practice at the high court and courts of appeal for the last 8 years (Preferably commercial litigation practice) 
    • Good ICT skills, word, PowerPoint, excel etc and familiarity with Ai
    • Excellent legal writing skills ( verifiable experience in legal writing pleadings, opinions, written addresses, appeal briefs etc) 
    • Good advocacy and client management  

    Required Competencies:

    • Consistent experience of day-to-day litigation practice.
    • Good ICT skills, word, PowerPoint, excel etc and familiarity with Ai
    • Excellent writing skills and verifiable experience in legal writing (pleadings, opinions, written addresses, appeal briefs etc) 
    • Some consulting experience will help 
    • A good team player and builder and a well-rounded lawyer 
    • Good advocacy and client management skills
