    Accounts Payable Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Receive, review, and verify supplier invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization.
    • Match invoices with purchase orders, delivery notes, and contracts.
    • Post invoices into the accounting system accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Prepare payment schedules and ensure timely settlement of supplier payments.
    • Process payments through bank transfers, cheques, or electronic platforms as approved.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable ledgers.
    • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice discrepancies or disputes promptly.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and statutory requirements.
    • Deduct and account for applicable taxes (e.g., WHT, VAT) in line with regulations.
    • Maintain proper filing and documentation for audit and record-keeping purposes.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing of accounts.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing required documents and explanations.
    • Liaise with procurement, stores, and other departments to resolve payment issues.
    • Perform any other finance-related duties as assigned by management.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    • Timeliness of invoice processing and payments
    • Accuracy of accounts payable records
    • Number of unresolved supplier queries
    • Compliance with internal controls and audit requirements

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Candidates should possess an HND / B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with 2–5 years relevant experience in accounts payable or finance role
    • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Strong ethical standards and confidentiality

    Working Conditions:

    • Office-based role
    • May require extended hours during month-end or audit periods.
