We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to oversee the company's financial records, statutory compliance, tax filings, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance while demonstrating the ability to manage high transaction volumes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Prepare and file statutory taxes, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and Companies Income Tax (CIT).
Liaise with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), and other regulatory bodies on tax and compliance matters.
Ensure timely filing of annual returns and maintain compliance with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) requirements.
Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, ledgers, and other financial records.
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing accurate documentation in line with IFRS standards.
Process financial transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of accounting best practices.
Utilize Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with company financial policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
3–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and Companies Income Tax (CIT).
Familiarity with FIRS filing procedures and experience liaising with tax authorities.
Working knowledge of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) statutory compliance and annual returns.
Basic understanding of audit processes and IFRS documentation standards.
Comfortable representing the company before FIRS, LIRS, CAC, and other regulatory agencies when required.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage high transaction volumes.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new accounting systems and technologies.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
