We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing team at Carbon Microfinance Bank.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations. This role is crucial in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall success of our innovative fintech company.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping: Manage all bookkeeping activities, including posting and reconciliation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
General Ledger: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
Payment Processing: Ensure approved payments are processed in a timely manner without delays.
Statutory Payments and Compliance: Follow up with all remittances and ensure that all statutory deductions are paid within relevant timelines.
Receivables and Payables: Maintain accurate records of receivables and payables and follow up on collections/payments where required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certifications, e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN is mandatory
2+ years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the fintech or financial services industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.
Experience with core banking systems like Mifos is a plus
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations is a plus.
