We seek a detail-oriented Account Officer to strengthen our finance team and support accurate financial record-keeping in line with Nigerian hospitality industry standards.
We are recruiting a qualified Account Officer to manage day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate books of accounts, process payments, and support month-end closing activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Hotel Manager to ensure financial integrity across front-office revenue, restaurant/bar sales, event bookings, and vendor payments in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping
- Record daily transactions from all revenue centres (front desk, restaurant, bar, event hall) into the accounting system
- Reconcile cash collections, bank deposits, and POS/transfer payments daily to ensure 100% accuracy
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers for debtors (corporate clients), creditors (suppliers), and petty cash
- Prepare and file VAT returns (5% on hotel services) and WHT schedules in compliance with FIRS requirements
- Support payroll preparation, including staff allowances, overtime, and statutory deductions (Pension, NHF, ITF)
Operational Accounting
- Verify purchase requisitions and process supplier payments after management approval
- Conduct weekly stock count verification for restaurant/bar inventory and report discrepancies
- Prepare daily sales summaries and variance reports for management review
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet) under supervision
- Maintain an organised filing system for invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers for audit readiness
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all financial documentation complies with Nigerian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (NGAAP)
- Support external auditors during annual statutory audits with timely document provision
- Monitor compliance with internal control procedures to prevent revenue leakages
- Flag unusual transactions or potential fraud indicators to management immediately
Required Qualifications
- Minimum: OND or HND in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance, or related field from a recognised institution
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in hospitality, retail, or SME environment (fresh OND graduates with internship experience may be considered)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or Hotel PMS like Opera/Fidelio)
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles
- Numerical accuracy with zero tolerance for calculation errors
- Integrity and confidentiality when handling cash and financial data
- Ability to work under pressure during month-end closing and audit periods
- Basic knowledge of Nigerian tax laws (VAT Act, Personal Income Tax Act)
- Good communication skills to liaise with department heads on billing issues
- Willingness to work occasional weekends during peak event periods
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: ₦150,000 monthly (based on experience and certification level) + Other benefits
