    Account Assistant

    Overview 

    The Account Assistant is expected to assist the Accounts department with data entry, processing, and recording transactions, updating the ledger, assisting

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare a daily update revenue report for the company
    • Daily reconciliation of sales for the Retail team 
    • Verify the accuracy of vendors\' invoices and prepare payment schedules 
    • Process payment requests in compliance with financial policies and procedures 
    • Manage and maintain up-to-date accounts payable and accounts receivable records. 
    • Assist the Finance Manager in preparing financial statements 
    • Maintain the assets register for the company 
    • Verify purchase orders received from the Purchaser and raise a payment request for payment authorization by the Cost Controller 
    • Daily update of receivable tracker 
    • Participate in end of the month stock taking with the Inventory team 
    • Ensure an accurate filing system for all invoices, including bills from electricity, water, taxes, miscellaneous expenses and etc 
    • Vet, track, and reconcile petty cash disbursements as approved 
    • Ensure prompt cash deposits of cash sales for the company 
    • Perform any other task as assigned

    Skills

    • Knowledge of accounting principles, best practices, and procedures 
    • Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable management 
    • Ability to interpret financial records 
    • Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software 
    • Ability to read, compare, and interpret figures and data 
    • Knowledge of office administration and procedures
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
    • Good knowledge of statutory and regulatory laws 
    • Good written and verbal communication skills 
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
    • Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving 
    • High accuracy and attention to detail.

    Requirements

    • B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any other accounting-related field 
    • 1-2 years’ experience as an Accountant 
    • A professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage, e.g., ICAN, ACCA
    • Has an entrepreneurial mindset 
    • Has a mature and calm disposition 
    • Displays a high level of integrity 
    • Must be tech-savvy 
    • Has an interest in business operations
