    Deputy Chief of Party - Nigeria

    Department/Location: Abuja, Nigeria with frequent travel to Maiduguri, Nigeria

    Reports To: Project Director (TBD)

    Type: Full Time Employee

    Overview: IBTCI is currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party. To be based in Abuja, Nigeria with frequent travel to Maiduguri, Nigeria. This is a full time-time positions with regional travel. It also includes remote management of data collection teams in Nigeria. The project will establish and undertake independent monitoring of US-government-funded programs in northeast Nigeria, and aims to increase the donor and its partners’ understanding of the outputs, progresses, challenges, successes, and lessons learned of selected projects. This position is contingent upon award.

    Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities: The Deputy Chiefs of Party must lead the technical design, data analysis, and report writing aspects of this project. The Deputy Chiefs of Party will also be responsible for managing the technical implementation of this project to ensure that the deliverables represent the outcomes of sound, ethical, and verifiable data collection and analysis.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Previous experience designing monitoring and verification systems or other rigorous qualitative and quantitative research designs.
    • Previous experience implementing third party monitoring projects, M&E support projects, or evaluations.
    • Previous experience in data analysis and report writing.
    • Previous experience managing local staff.
    • Previous experience with managing sub-contractors is highly desirable.
    • Previous experience working on programs implemented in Nigeria is desirable.
    • Arabic language skills are desirable.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in the humanitarian, transition, or development field;
    • Within the last five years, the DCOP candidate should have at least two years’ experience managing teams;
    • At least one year of experience in conflict zones.

    Education: The Deputy Chiefs of Party must hold a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, social science, statistics or a related field. Masters’ degree in international affairs, social science, statistics, or a related field international affairs, social science, statistics, or a related field is desired.

    Working Environment: Work is typically performed in an office environment, with some time spent in the field.

    Supervisory Responsibility: This position does have supervisory responsibilities.

    Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

    Travel: International travel is required
