Expatriate Role

LOCATION: Owerri, Imo state
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To lead and supervise yard operatives and yard conditions

REPORTING TO: Operations Manager

PROBATION: 16 weeks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To lead the yard and loading operatives within the team, establishing and maintaining high standards of performance
• Liaising with the transport office over vehicles coming in
• Allocate competent employees jobs and tasks
• General laboring and  housekeeping duties
• Ensuring the production departments  are constantly supplied with materials needed
• Ensure that  work areas are maintained in a clean and tidy state
• Ensure compliance with the company’s policies including Health and Safety
• Observe and comply with all good working practices within the factory
• Ensure the correct planning and communication is carried out to prepare for deliveries/collections/stock movement.

Essential:

• Excellent communication and people skills
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Good time management skills
• Be hard working and conscientious with  the ability to motivate and support
• The ability to work calmly under pressure
• Show good initiative and enthusiasm
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team without constant supervision
• Previous experience of leading team
• Hold a valid driving license

Desirable:

• Previous experience of working in the Precast Concrete industry
• Previous experience of operating Counter Balance trucks and sideloaders
• Previous experience of operating overhead gantry cranes

Requirements

• 4 to 5 years’ experience as Yard Manager in a Construction Company
• A Degree in Civil Engineering.
