    Project Coordinator - Green Economy in Biosphere Reserves (GEBR)

    Type of Contract: Service Contract
    Post Level: Project Coordinator
    Duration: One () year renewable subject to satisfactory perfonnance

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Under the overall supervision of the Director of UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Abuja, and direct supervision of the Science Programme Specialist, the Project Coordinator will perform the following functions:
    • Coordinate and manage project contracts with implementing partners and consultants.
    • Support the strategic implementation of project and the role of implementing partners and consultants to achieve project deliverables.
    • Coordinate project budget and resource allocation.
    • Monitor the implementation rate of project activities to ensure that activities are executed within agreed time frames and coordinate all project assessment and evaluation procedures.
    • Coordinate the preparation of reports on project implementation and deliverables.
    • Assisting in compiling project progress and evaluation reports for timely submission to donor.
    • Identify and provide relevant technical support and guidance to implementing partners and consultants.
    • Coordinate the preparation of the content and organization of the various meetings and workshops related to the implementation of the project activities.
    • Coordinate all activities related to ensuring the in-country visibility of the project.
    • Coordinate and monitor overall project tasks and other logistics for the successful implementation of the project.
    • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Regional Director or Senior Programme Specialist.

    Minimum Quaifications Required:
    The ideal candidates should posses:

    • Master degree in Environmental Sciences/Environmental Management/Economics, Geography or a closely related field.
    • A minimum of three (3) years progressively professional experience in the above mentioned fields.
    • Proven skills in project coordination invoMng different stakeholders and implementing partners.
    • Good communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. including drafting reports,
    • Excellent writing and oral command of the English language.
    • Proficiency in the use of standard computer software (Excel, PowerPoint) knowledge in GIS and statistical software would be an asset.
    • Capacity to establish and remain committed to teamwork and accustomed to act in a diplomatic and sensitive manner in a multicultural working environment.
    • Experience in project management, experience in an international context and knowledge of UNESCO MAB
    • programme would be an asset.
