Structural Engineering Manager at Sigma Qualitas Limited

Core Job Functions / Responsibility
The Structural engineer will be mostly involved in the structural design of buildings.

Primary Activities:

• Work competently on an independent basis.
• Communicate directly with Clients.
• Manage workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians (including verification of quality).
• Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
• Prepare Technical Specifications.
• Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures
• Create 3D structural analysis models using commercial software, including RISA, SAP, ETABS, Robot, and others
• Carry out design reviews prior to the issue of technical documentation.
• Monitor financial performance of projects.
• Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary).
• Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved.
• Maintain open and effective communication with Principal and Associate as required.
• Provide advanced structural design of projects in collaboration with clients, with assistance from Principal and Associate as required.
• Perform calculations conforming to building code as support for structural design.
• Work closely with clients and other consultants for thorough project coordination, attending and initiating meetings as required.
• Analysing configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure.
• Considering the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
• Making drawings, specifications and computer models of structures for building contractors
• Working with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyse results of soil sample

Job Requirements and Skills

• Graduate Qualifications: A B.Sc /HND in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering required.
• Post Graduate Qualifications: Master's degree would be of advantage.
• Experience: 7-10 years' experience in structural design is essential.
• Certifications and Training Requirements: Relevant Training and Certification would be of advantage.
