ICRS Junior Psychosocial Support Assistant at International Organization for Migration - IOM

Context

• Working under the overall supervision of the DDRR Project Officer and under the direct supervision of the ICRS Project Officer the successful candidate will be responsible for in coordination with other members of the ICRS team in Gombe will be responsible for providing quality psychosocial support to the beneficiaries of the ICRS project to improve their overall mental health as part of the IOM DDRR Programme in Nigeria.  

Core Functions / Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial first aid to the target population.
• Become fully familiar with psychological and psychosocial activities under the ICRS system and apply this knowledge to plan and implement regular individual and group recreational, educational, and sensitization activities for beneficiaries as well as support groups and conflict mediation if necessary.
• Provide individual counselling sessions tailored to the needs of the target population along with follow up sessions when deemed necessary.
• Conduct and regularly update mental health and psychosocial assessments with ICRS beneficiaries.
• Conduct ICRS profiling interviews and ensure accurate data entry when required. 
• Identify cases that require specialized institutions support and coordinate referral.  
• Identify cases for conducting psychosocial group activities and conduct the same.
• Implement psychosocial support during family and community visits as well as bereavement support when necessary.
• Update existing ICRS monitoring, evaluation and reporting tools such as databases according to deadlines established by the ICRS Officer.
• Under the leadership of the ICRS Team Leader participate in regular staff meetings and other meetings with implementing partners and other relevant stakeholders.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein and/or assigned by the ICRS Project Officer.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ related working experience in psychology, social work, community mobilization, health.

Skills:

• Excellent knowledge of English;
• Fluency in Hausa is also required;
• Computer Literacy;
• Communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work with minimum supervision. 

Languages:

• Fluency in English and Native Language.
• Fluency in English and multiple Native languages
