    Chief Security Officer (CSO)

    Responsibilities

    • Devise policies and procedures regarding areas such as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, loss and fraud prevention, privacy, risk management and access controls needs of the facility are addressed
    • Build a strategic and comprehensive security program that defines, develops, maintains and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective security practices which minimize risk and ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of assets that is owned, and controlled by the organization.
    • Ensure information security policies, standards, and procedures are up-to-date.
    • Oversee and coordinate security efforts across the company, including information technology, human resources, communications, legal, facilities management and other groups.
    • Identify security initiatives and standards. Initiate, facilitate, and promote activities to foster information security awareness within the organization, and evaluate security trends, evolving threats, risks and vulnerabilities and apply tools to mitigate risk as necessary.
    • Oversee network of vendors and directors who secure the company's assets, including but not limited to safeguarding of intellectual property and computer systems.
    • Collaborates with organization senior management to establish governance for the security program, and serves in a leadership role for security compliance.
    • Develop procedures to ensure physical safety of employees and visitors, and is responsible for initial and periodic information security risk assessment/analysis, mitigation and remediation. Responsible for development and implementation of security risk management plan.
    • Manage the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures, prioritize security initiatives, and ensure security is maintained and updated.
    • Oversees, develops and/or delivers initial and ongoing security training to the workforce. Initiates, facilitates and promotes activities to foster security awareness within the organization and related entities.
    • Implement video surveillance, investigate security breaches, and implement disciplinary procedures.
    • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state security laws, licensing and certification requirements and accreditation standards, and maintain relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies.
    • Execute management responsibilities for assigned Security team and ensure that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct reports are defined and understood.
    • Effectively partner with leadership to provide overall thought leadership specific to security and counter intelligence matters.
    • Provide strategic vision and direction in security aspects of an organization, develop and implement emergency procedures and incident responses, and conduct audits to find holes in security platform.
    • Serves as information security consultant to all departments for all data security related issues. Create global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security, and develop risk management assessments.
    • Develop and implement strategic security policies, protocols and procedures for securing and protecting sensitive information. Establishes and administers a process for investigating and acting on security incidents which may result in a privacy breach breaches.
    • Partner with Human Resources and Privacy Officer to ensure consistent sanctions for security violations, coordinate cross team functional in maintaining vigilance and security of an organization.
    • Utilize information technology to protect electronic information resources, initiate measures to protect databases, and develop and initiate procedures to protect company’s fixed assets.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of security management with increasing supervisory and management responsibilities. Advanced degree preferred.
    • 5 years' experience working in the intelligence community or military with security requirements and practices for the different IC agencies.

    Essential:

    • Must have extensive knowledge and experience with industrial security laws, regulations, practices, counter intelligence, and community programs. Ability to provide expert advice and counsel to executives and their program leadership on contractual and procurement matters, including contract types, regulatory compliance requirements, organization conflict of interest, and risk mitigation and monitor operational performance in line with corporate objectives.
    • Experience as a leader supporting geographically dispersed locations.
    • A personal style which encompasses a consultative approach to customer relationship management
    • Must have well developed professional writing and speaking skills, and be capable of preparing point papers, and preparing and delivering briefings.
    • This key individual will be a hands-on, action-oriented, client-focused personality that will drive for results.
    • Must be able to thrive in a highly interactive team environment and possess highly effective interpersonal, communication, collaborative, and leadership skills.
    • Able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and deliver on multiple priorities.

    • Practical experience, preferable working within Marine, Shipping or Oil and Gas industries.
