With over 1.1 million active job seekers, we serve as a major hub for those looking to find new opportunities. Our platform’s wide reach extends to over  3,000 employers who actively post job openings and seek qualified candidates. Every month, we help 700+ candidates secure employment, demonstrating our effectiveness in facilitating job placements. This success underscores our platform’s reputation as a key player in the African job market, providing valuable resources for job seekers and employers. 

Unemployment remains one of the most pressing challenges across Africa with the youth unemployment rate particularly high. With an estimated unemployment rate of around 30%, South Africa stands out as one of the countries in Africa with the highest rate. This is according to data from Statista. 

Regrettably, this situation has created a significant gap between the growing youth population and the opportunities available to them, leaving many without the means to build sustainable futures. Addressing this issue is critical not only for improving livelihoods but also for fostering long-term economic growth and social stability across the continent. For us at MyJobMag, our goal is to help 100,000 youths secure sustainable jobs over the next six years. 

We are especially proud of our growing presence in countries like Kenya and South Africa, where we are making a significant difference in addressing the region’s unemployment challenges. There are over 1000 verified jobs in South Africa posted daily on our platform from different recruiting companies. These jobs are posted fresh as they come so that they retain their sense of urgency and relevance. Job seekers also get to find a list of top companies hiring daily. The total number of job openings we posted for the year 2024 in South Africa is over 110,200. 

In Kenya with a significantly lower unemployment rate, we availed to users in that region 52,680 job openings for the year in review. We also deploy localized filtering search options to make finding jobs in specific locations easier. Our “jobs by county” or “jobs by province” filter, for example, allows users in Kenya and South Africa to narrow their search based on specific locations, making it easier to find geographically relevant jobs. This feature is especially beneficial to candidates who are looking to work in a particular area.

This feature is innovative because employers get to access our database of top professionals based on keyword searches. They can also refine the search to view unlimited candidate profiles.

We are already looking to enhance MyJobMag using AI technology. The integration of AI technology into MyJobMag will cater to the needs of both job seekers and employers. 

For job seekers, we are working on AI tools that will analyse CVs (resumes) for keywords, formatting, and relevance to the roles they are applying for. This allows the system to suggest improvements, helping job seekers optimise their CVs to meet employer expectations and stand out. 

Our integration of AI can also help job seekers apply for jobs faster. This will involve pre-filling job applications based on the information on a candidate’s CV, suggesting jobs that best match their skills and experience, or even applying on their behalf with a single click. 

Job seekers could save time, allowing them to apply to multiple roles with minimal effort while ensuring they don’t miss opportunities. They also get to receive personalized job emails based on their profiles, preferences, and past behaviour on the platform. Our AI model will be able to analyze a job seeker's search history, CV, and application patterns to send emails that are highly relevant to the candidate, making it more likely that they will engage with the job offers.

There would also be AI-driven chatbots to guide job seekers through the job application process. Queries will be answered and immediate support provided, making the experience more user-friendly and efficient.

For employers on the other hand, we are looking at developing AI-powered tools to help them match suitable candidates to their job descriptions faster, significantly shortening hiring times. These tools will assist in filtering out unqualified applicants and ranking candidates based on their fit for the job. With our AI model, employers will be able to predict candidates who are more likely to succeed in specific roles based on data analysis. 

Employers will equally be able to make more informed decisions and increase retention rates by evaluating past hiring patterns and performance metrics.
