MyJobMag 30 Day Work Challenge: Day 13 - Use the Pomodoro technique to achieve more

Welcome to Day 13 of MyJobMag 30 Day Work Challenge. The 30 Day Work Challenge is designed to help you get your footing solid either you are starting a new job or as a new manager. You can tweet at us @myjobmag to let us know how you are doing or if you have any questions.

So ready for today’s challenge?

We have been talking about how to be more productive and achieve more. We have shared some simple tricks you can use such as drinking more water, taking scheduled breaks and walking around or doing some simple form of exercise while at work.

However today, I want to share with you one single hack that successful leader Obama used to achieve more and be equally productive while avoiding burnouts.

This principle is based on the Pomodoro technique and it says that you should break your task into 25 mins and then take a 5 mins break.

So here is how to actually put it to work for you.

  • Pick your project
  • Break it into tasks
  • Pick a task
  • Work on it for 25 mins
  • Take a 5 mins break
  • Go back and continue until the project is done, work on another task

The Pomodoro technique has been known to work exceeding well and a lot of people are using it to achieve more as it enables them to focus their time of the task at hand thereby generating more success. The Pomodoro technique works very well because our brain does not usually retain its efficiency for longer periods, so it is always good to work or study for fixed time intervals. So no matter what you want to achieve, work or studying, you can actually use the Pomodoro technique to your advantage

That is all about today’s challenge.
