MyJobMag 30 Day Work Challenge: Day 7 - Plan Activities for Next Week

Welcome to Day 7 of MyJobMag 30 Day Work Challenge. The 30 Day Work Challenge is designed to help you get your footing solid either you are starting a new job or as a new manager. You can tweet at us @myjobmag to let us know how you are doing or if you have any questions.

So ready for today’s challenge?

Yesterday, you took out time to set some goals for yourself. But, do you know there is a better way to set goals and achieve better results? This method has been used by big companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon and tons of others.

As a new manager, it is your responsibility to have a system you can rely on so everyone on your team can be on the same page while working towards the same goal.

This system or framework that I want to introduce you to is called OKR.

OKR is an acronym that stands for Objective and Key Results. Here is a sample OKR you can use. I suggest you have 3 objectives per quarter. Then each of your 3 objectives can have 3 key results you want to be measuring.

Objective: Increase employee engagement

Key Results:

  1. Implement at least three engagement activities per department.
  2. Reduce attrition rate from 10 to 5%.
  3. Increase eNPS from 75% to 92%.

If you are in marketing, here is a sample OKR to get you creative.

Objective: Create a watertight, high-performing Marketing funnel

  • Key Result: Website visit to trial conversion rate of 10%
  • Key Result: Trial to Opportunity conversion rate of 65%
  • Key Result: Opportunity to Close conversion rate of 75%

Objective: Achieve record revenues while increasing profitability

  • Key Result: Hit quarterly revenue of over $100000
  • Key Result: Start sales in 2 new countries and achieve first quarter revenues totaling over $100000
  • Key Result: Increase gross profit % margin from 23% to 54%

Now that is all for today’s challenge. Join us on our LinkedIn and let us know how you are faring
