  • The Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Yaba-Lagos, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health hereby invites applications for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

    Procurement Officer I

    Job Summary
    * Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises and reviews work of staff responsible for purchasing including technical and specialized procurement of supplies, equipment and services. Requires extensive knowledge of policies, procedures and practices.
    * Oversees staff. Manages and make decisions in Human Resources activities in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evalutions, and salary planning.
    * Responsible for departmental administrative issues such as maintaining/revising policies and procedures and website, reporting minority business participation/monthly volume processing/subcontract plan utilization.
    * Assumes responsibility and oversight of large and complex purchases involving use of Requests for Proposals. Assists departments with specification development, drafts RFP, obtains State approval, serves on evaluation committee.
    * Provides input on budget. Proposes salary raise within budget. Monitors and obtains best price for office expenditures. Approves payment of invoices and directs purchasing card expenditures for office. Negotiates copier maintenance contracts.
    * Represents department at various meetings with administration, faculty, vendors, external agencies, professional organizations, and other groups. Develops and delivers speeches, presentations, and training as required. Corresponds with same groups.
    * Reviews, analyzes and approves all purchases where award is not made to the low bidder to ensure justification exists and policy is followed. Reviews, analyzes, researches and approves purchases of a non-competitive nature.
    * Resolves problems and protests concerning bid solicitations, contract awards or contract performance as the need arises. Addresses unauthorized purchases. Conveys decisions both verbally and in writing referencing law and policy.

    Qualifications
    * Must possess a Master degree in any of the following disciplines: Accounting, Marketing, Procurement or purchasing and supplies, business administration or other related discipline.
    * Proficiency in ICT will be an added advantage.

    Consultant Physician


    Job Summary
    * The delivery of a dedicated programme of community geriatric activity
    * Rapid access outpatient clinics
    * Medical input for the Intermediate Care Teams in order to ensure the most effective possible management of complex patients post-discharge, effective admission avoidance wherever possible and to reduce the length of stay by facilitating quicker discharges. It is planned that, initially at least, this input will be provided through a senior medical presence at the various multidisciplinary team meetings and domiciliary visits based on clinical need.
    * Provision of domiciliary visits in order to support the ongoing management of complex and vulnerable patients in the community, to support the work of GPs and the community matrons. This includes support to care homes to develop care plans to improve complex disease management and end of life care.
    * To provide consultant support to the Stroke Service with follow up of frail patients post-discharge through the Intermediate Care Teams

    Qualifications
    * Should Possess an MBBS
    * Should have passed the part II of the fellowship of the Nigerian or West African Post-graduate Medical College in the faculty
    * 10 years experience after part II of the fellowship
    * A respiratory/chest physician with an MPH is an added advantage
