    WASH Officer-Capacity Building

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager-WASH. 
    • The WASH Officer is responsible for developing and building the process of strengthening the capacity within the community in order to increase the effectiveness,social impact and achieve the program goals and sustainability.

    Task and Responsibilities

    • Assess the needs of stakeholders on capacity building.
    • Training of relevant stakeholders on WASH governance study and recommendations.
    • Build capacity of staff at State and LGA level and advocate for improvement in WASH policies.
    • Develop training plan for stakeholders  according to the finding  RSCA and WASH.
    • Capacity building of WASH unit on the various hygiene and sanitation approaches for sustainability.

    WASH Assistant - Sanitation Marketing

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and will be directly supervised by the WASH Officer- Sanitation Marketing. The WASH Assistant supports the WASH Officer in conducting research study on sanitation marketing.

    Task and Responsibilities

    • Build relationship with stakeholders and assist the WASH Officer in training communities volunteers and local artisans.

    FSL Officer - Household Economic Strengthening

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and supervised by the Sector Manager-FSL. The FSL Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of income generating activities and household economic strengthening under the FSL component of the EU project.
    • The aim is to achieve the specific objective of EU project is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services. 

    Task and Responsibilities

    • Facilitate community mobilization towards economic activities.
    • Support in the implementation of capacity building training including business management, book keeping, market linkage and profit maximization for the target beneficiaries at the LGA level.
    • Contribute to developing and implementing detailed work plan for FSL team at LGA level activities in collaboration with FSL Assistant.
    • Collate information and data on economic strengthening activities at LGA level through surveys, assessments, regular post distribution monitoring and field supervision visits of beneficiary households
    • Support M&E team in activities monitoring (beneficiary targeting, identification, registration and training; market and livelihood assessments; baseline and endline surveys, post distribution monitoring, price monitoring, field monitoring visits, focused group discussions (FGD), etc)
    • Contribute to the development of tools to monitor and improve the quality of FSL Economic Strengthening programming.
    • Participate in writing situation reports with information on food security, security information at the community when required.
    • Mobilization and awareness raising about the organization, economic Strengthening objectives and activities to local authorities and the population, and act as a link between the Organization and the beneficiaries at the local level.

    Position Requirements

    • Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture or any other related fields.

    FSL Officer-Agro

    Location: Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and supervised by the Sector Manager-FSL.
    • The FSL Officer will directly supervise the field team in implementing farmers field school, kitchen garden and cash/asset for work activities in the program through participatory selection of vulnerable beneficiaries, cash transfer to selected beneficiaries, follow up and monitoring.

    Deputy Regional FSL Coordinator

    Job Summary

    The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno and supervised by the Regional Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Coordinator.     Deputy Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator

    Job Summary

    The position is based in Maiduguri, Borno and directly supervised by the Regional M&E Coordinator. This Deputy Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator will support the M&E Regional Coordinator in providing technical oversight of Action Against Hunger’s monitoring and evaluation activities in North-eastern Nigeria. 

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Support the M&E Regional Coordinator in development of appropriate and rigorous M&E system to guide project start-up, implementation, adjustment, accountability and learning in compliance with Action Against Hunger’s M&E guidelines and minimum requirements.
    • Support the M&E team in the documentation, tracking and follow up of lessons learnt and recommendations from all assessments conducted in the region.
    • Provide support for capitalization, learning and reporting of all projects activities in the mission in the region.
    • Support the use of data collection, mobile data collection systems, electronic voucher system and other technologies to strengthen monitoring and reporting of activities.
    • Prepare comprehensive M&E plans for each project to capture quantitative and qualitative data for project performance tracking and reporting.
    • Organize and coordinate mid-term reviews, learning workshops/review of program work plans with program team at field level and other stakeholders.
    • Participate with the Regional M&E Coordinator in the implementation activities that build the capacity of team members through training, mentorship and coaching to ensure quality control of monitoring and evaluation activities.
    • Work closely with grants, reporting and knowledge management team across the mission to enhance systems for project documentation and archiving.

    Position Requirements

    • Degree or equivalent in social sciences, statistics, Development studies International relations, mathematics or computer science, with relevant experience in information management including the use of GIS in emergency or development sector.
    • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience working with NGOs covering multi-sectoral programming.
    • Proven management and coordination skills (HR, projects, and stress management).
    • Previous experience in a technical advisory role in monitoring and results management.
    • Proven ability to write reports, create management information systems for large amounts of data within a complex program and use of mobile data collection system.

    Deputy Regional Nutrition and Health Coordinator

    Job Summary

    FSL Officer-CBT-SP

    Job Summary

    The position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Sector Manager-FSL. The FSL Officer is required to support the implementation of FSL-Cash Based Transfer-Social Protection component and activities of the EU project through participatory selection of vulnerable beneficiaries, cash transfer to selected beneficiaries, follow up and monitoring. The aim is to achieve the specific objective of EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.

    Task and Responsibilities

    • Facilitate community mobilization through social protection activities.
    • Work with traditional committees to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable beneficiaries for cash or food voucher support.
    • Work closely with community structures to follow up on implementation of planned activities.
    • Supervise and collect information to ensure the surveillance of the social protection situation in the area of implementation of the program is achieving the expected results when required.
    • Supervise and collect required information in the field to facilitate capacity building and training program.
    • Support the M&E team in analysis of beneficiary data collection through the various tools.
    • Contribute to the development of project community mobilisation strategies for targeting and registration of beneficiaries for the social protection activities.
    • Implement sensitisation activities for targeted communities about social protection activities and strengthening livelihood restoration activities with support from relevant State, LGA and community stakeholders, in feasible livelihood restoration activities at LGA level.
    • Support in the verification of the beneficiaries to ensure the identification and selection of the most vulnerable population.
    • Collaboration with other partners including relevant stakeholders at the assigned local government area.
    • Work in collaboration with the communities and local leaders at all stages of project implementation.

    Position Requirements

    • Degree in Agronomy, Agriculture or any other related fields with minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in a similar position.
    • Previous experience in managing FSL interventions (i.e. cash based transfer, IGA, agriculture/livelihoods).
    • Excellent team, budget, project management and representation competencies.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills, report writing and budget oversight.
    • Have the capacity to analyze and resolve problems including taking appropriate action.
    • Ability to share information in a clear and concise manner and define goals, realistic and specific objectives.
    • Capacity to establish priorities in order to achieve expected results.
    • Have excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
    • Be willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Fluency in English,Hausa, Kanuri and Fulani.
    • Experience in implementing donor programs and activities.
