    Welder

    Prime Responsibilities and duties

    • Ability to weld all position of welding such as 3G, 4G, 6G & 6GR on SMAW/FCAW on both plate and pipe.
    • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
    • Welding spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.;
    • Supervising and identifying any fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notifying the supervisors;
    • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product;
    • Operating other accessory equipments and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, and other types of welding arcs;
    • Examining finish products and spare parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met;
    • Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipments for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipments

    The Person

    • Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.
    • Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage
    • 3 -5 years minimum, in major Oil & Gas EPC projects, must possess vast Knowledge in the fabrication industry.
    • Safety certificate (general) and other safety certification will be an added advantage.

    Structural Fitter - II

    Qualification
    Relevant trade test(s) and SSCE. Higher qualifications are added advantages.

    Prime Responsibilities

    • 5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.
    • Trade Test Certification. 1&2 labour & productivity or Engineering background.
    • Good safety practices i.e.  Understanding of HSE.
    • Conversant with abbreviations, signs & codes.
    • Ability to identify fittings & materials.
    • Ability to understand and interpret simple and complex structural fabrication drawing.
    • Ability to use all fabrication /Fitting equipment and instrument
    • Must understand tools and equipment management.
    • Awareness of safety rules and standard of the industry.

    Experience

    • 5- 8 years minimum working experience in the fabrication field.
    • Must have worked on a structural fitting   project.
    • Working experience on an EPC project will be an additional advantage

    Shafting Mechanic

    Job Description

    Reports To:
    Department supervisor/Ship Manager / Operations Manager / and or his deputy in times of absence for all items concerning the day to day repair / planning for vessels or internal jobs

    Purpose / Role:

    • Ensure all safety procedures are followed and work towards improvement of the safety culture, ensuring all his workers utilize PPE correctly – as required by the task in hand.  To stop & report any unsafe acts, including “STOP WORK AUTHORITY” 
    • Ensuring that full understanding of the “Scope of Work” for the vessel / project is understood for his department.
    • Inform Operations Manager / Ship Manager for all production planning / quality control & reports and any requests from the client for additional work.
    • Verify any sub-contractors work quality and completeness prior to handing back to client.
    • Ensure all HSE/QC requirements for their department are carried out – in liaison with HSE Manager / Ship Managers as appropriate.
    • Raise all materials and consumables requests in a timely manner and follow up the material requisitions to ensure that the material is delivered on time.  Inspect items for acceptability as required return any excess material back to the stores immediately – so it is not lost or damaged.
    • Effective cost controls on the use of all manpower on the vessel to reduce additional costs / excessive overtime.
    • Bringing outstanding items / issues to Management notice in a timely manner.
    • Working firmly yet fairly with his entire workforce.
    • Identification / Training of those workers who need to be trained in other tasks in order that they can improve their section Matrix skills and become more effective and productive in the Shipyard. To Monitor budget hours agreed for each activity and control expenditure to meet these budgeted hours

    Requirements

    Key aims and objectives:

    • Entire “Department” personnel plus any casuals seconded to them.
    • This may include subcontract labour  - if included.

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties:
    Authorities  -  Key person for communication to / from the department and staff

    Other Duties:

    • Clearing up after their department has completed their assigned daily work – not leaving it for others to do.  Keeping the working area clean and safe whilst work on going.
    • Identification and selection of appropriate workers to carry out the various tasks – getting the right man for the job.
    • Ensuring that all section work is inspected personally and verified to be acceptable – prior to passing on to client or next section
    • Ensuring any client concerns or complains are brought to the Ship Managers attention immediately.
    • To act on own initiative in order to improve the process or projects and inform Management of any suggestions for consideration.
    • Attend Periodic Safety Meetings as part of Shipyard staff
    • Attend Weekly Safety Meetings and ensure all his workforce complies with any and all updates in the Safety processes.
    • Carry out Safety / Operational briefings regarding specific tasks which are to be undertaken on each project and ensure all personnel involved are also in attendance, especially when involving “ delicate” and “high risk” lifting procedures / operations.
    • Complete various “Internal Shipyard Projects” assigned to them, in a timely and cost effective manner.
    • Report unsafe acts / instances requiring discipline to Management without delay.
    • Understanding and working towards the agreed goals and annual targets for Shipyard Division.
    • Identification of defective equipment to Operations Manager / Ship Manager in a timely manner so that repairs can be put into effect.
    • Assist other sections carry out their duties as requested by Shipyard Management – without argument or dissent.

    Reports:

    • Daily Manpower distribution report  - to meet the daily deadlines.
    • Casual labour list request in advance – to Operations Manager
    • Daily booking of all Dept work force and casuals’ time – to jobs.
    • Safety reports regarding any “incidents” associated with the dept.
    • Annual “Matrix” appraisal of his workers and casuals.

    Marine Services Technician

    Purpose/Role:

    • To maintain and repair, manage operations and stock of Jagal Group boats and ensure operational status of the fleet.  Main focus – 3 vessels.
    • Engines includes:
    1. Mercury SCI 700 V8 supercharged High Performance Marine Engine
    2. Mercruiser Bravo and NXT outdrives
    3. Yamaha Outboards

    Key Tasks:

    Vessels Maintenance

    • Ensure operational availability, maintenance programmes and ad hoc repairs of the flotilla.
    • Manage all work to meet safety requirements
    • Apply correct processes, parts and standards for all repair and maintenance work to ensure compliance with OEM standards for avoidance of claims
    • Manage spare parts and report on all aspects including costs and purchasing, inventory levels and control.
    • Lead technical aspects of marine maintenance procurement to assist the Procurement Department
    • Monitor and report on vessel and power plant specifications to ensure compliance and availability
    • Offer technical solutions for all marine services matters
    • Apply all marine codes of practice and Quality Management System standards set by Jagal, OEMs and local authorities for operation of vessels.
    • Perform specific and critical maintenance and repairs – both hands on and to supervisory capacity
    • Create and maintain an appropriate reports on all repair and maintenance matters to ensure timely information on flotilla availability, cost, downtime, trends and procurement is available to all stake holders

    People Supervision

    • Monitor operational work and suitability of boat crews and engineers and mentor, guide and ensure correct use of vessels
    • Lead skills and knowledge transfer to an excellent standard by engaging a local employee on every task to participate in on the job training
    • Support management of the marine services team in delivery of all services for passenger and vehicular movement
    • Supervise work by Contractors to ensure compliance to Jagal standards for repair and maintenance

    Prime Responsibilities and Duties:

    · Lead all technical aspects of repair and maintenance projects through hands-on engineering and support to the Marine Services team
    · Maintain a regular, visible daily presence in the yard
    · Communicate & report all technical implications of projects to relevant stake holders in a timely fashion
    · Lead all interface work with the client on all technical matters to ensure client satisfaction with vessel operations, quality, costs and timeliness
    · Act as the key expert on every aspect of small boat repair and production techniques, including QA

    Other Duties:

    · Accountable for ensuring that all section work is inspected personally and verified as acceptable prior to release to client or next section
    · Manage all client concerns / complaints are reviewed and reported as required
    · Implement continuous improvement at every opportunity to all processes and projects
    · Set safety standards and lead on safety compliance and cultural improvement in the Safety process

    Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviour
    Full qualifications and experience to maintain / repair, supervise and train others to operate the Jagal group flotilla of 3 quality vessels

    a. Mercruiser Petrol V8 high performance marine engines.
    b. Mercruiser Bravo and NXT outdrives.
    c. Yamaha outboards.

    Assist the main Nigerdock Marine services where suitable in the operation of the main business transport fleet

    a. Yanmar 4LH-STE marine engines.
    b. Hamilton HJ213 jet drives.
    c. Steyr MO, SE 236H45 marine engines.
    d. Suzuki DF250 / DF300 outboard engines.
    e. Caterpillar 3306 / Schottel 110 Navigator.
    f.  Perkins M215C marine engines.
    g. Installation and basic repair Knowledge of 12 volt marine electronic and navigation equipment.

    · GRP Hull repair and maintenance
    · Exposure to modern safety systems
    · Experience in managing procurement of marine systems and parts
    · Small team leadership experience
    · Qualified Coxswain for vessels of up to 20 metres
    · Sound experience in this industry sector in a leadership role in an emerging country
