Technical Team Lead- Lagos at Koolboks

Role Overview

• We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Head of Technical Team to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and IoT-enabled energy platforms. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities to drive innovation, ensure system reliability, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead the design, engineering, and implementation of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and IoT-based monitoring solutions
• Oversee system architecture, integration, and performance optimization across projects
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality benchmarks

Team Management

• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary technical team (engineers, technicians, IoT specialists)
• Assign tasks, review work, and ensure timely project delivery
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

Project Execution

• Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle: design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to meet deadlines and budgets
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide scalable solutions

IoT & Data Systems

• Lead the development and integration of IoT solutions for remote monitoring and predictive maintenance
• Ensure proper data collection, analysis, and reporting for system performance
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance system intelligence

Battery Storage Systems

• Design and optimize battery storage solutions for residential, commercial, or utility-scale applications
• Ensure proper integration with solar systems and grid infrastructure
• Monitor performance, safety, and lifecycle management of battery assets

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with business development, operations, and external partners
• Provide technical support during client engagements and proposals
• Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in the solar energy sector
• Proven experience working with battery storage systems and IoT technologies
• Prior experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role is strongly preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar PV system design and installation
• Experience with battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion systems, BMS)
• Familiarity with IoT platforms, sensors, and remote monitoring systems
• Understanding of electrical systems, inverters, and grid integration
• Proficiency with relevant design and simulation tools

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master’s is a plus)
