    Senior Accounting Analyst

    About the role

    • Paystack is looking for a Senior Accounting Analyst to help build a world-class financial reporting and control function across Nigeria and our expansion markets. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, while building scalable processes that support the company's rapid growth.
    • You will work closely with Finance, Treasury, Risk, Product, and Operations teams to deliver high-quality financial insights, maintain strong internal controls, and ensure seamless month-end close processes across multiple entities.
    • You will own the end-to-end financial reporting lifecycle from transaction recording to management reporting, ensuring alignment with group reporting standards and compliance with applicable accounting frameworks
    • This includes managing complex reconciliations, resolving banking and treasury-related issues, and driving audit readiness across all entities.
    • This is a full-time role based in Nigeria, reporting directly to the Finance Leadership team.

    We’ll trust you to
    Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:

    • Own the preparation of monthly management accounts across Nigeria and expansion entities, including full P&L and Balance Sheet review.
    • Drive the month-end close process (BD timelines), ensuring timely and accurate reporting while continuously improving close efficiency and reducing turnaround time.

    Balance Sheet Integrity:

    • Lead all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounts are fully supported and variances are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly.
    • Manage complex reconciliations across bank accounts, intercompany balances, and operational accounts.

    Banking & Treasury Operations:

    • Oversee bank statement validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution across multiple banking partners.
    • Identify and resolve issues such as missing transactions, delayed statements, and reconciliation breaks.
    • Provide clear visibility into cash positions through monthly cash reporting.

    Intercompany & Group Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain intercompany schedules, ensuring accurate reconciliation and elimination across entities
    • Align all financial reporting with group requirements and ensure consistency with global accounting standards.

    General Ledger Accuracy:

    • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in Oracle ERP Cloud and other accounting systems
    • Review and approve journal entries, maintain proper documentation, and enforce strong internal controls over financial data.

    Audit & Compliance:

    • Lead audit preparation by developing schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
    • Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, ensuring timely resolution of audit queries and maintaining audit readiness at all times.

    Financial Insights & Analysis:

    • Provide detailed analysis on revenue, cost drivers, and overall business performance
    • Prepare reports such as P&L flux, net revenue analysis, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making by leadership

    Process Optimisation & Collaboration:

    • Identify inefficiencies in financial reporting and reconciliation workflows, and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, scalability, and speed
    • Drive automation and standardisation across entities
    • Partner with Treasury, Product, Operations, and cross-functional teams to resolve financial issues, support new initiatives, and improve overall financial processes
    • Improve financial reporting timelines, strengthen internal controls, and proactively identify risks and implement controls to mitigate them.

    You’ll thrive in this role if you have

    • 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or commercial finance roles
    • Strong understanding of financial reporting, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and cash flow analysis
    • Proven experience managing month-end close processes in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle ERP Cloud
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reconciliations
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple entities and deliver under tight deadlines
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Bonus points if you have:

    • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services environments
    • Exposure to multi-country or expansion market reporting
    • Familiarity with US GAAP and/or IFRS reporting standards
    • Experience working with large-scale reconciliations and banking operations
    • Exposure to tools such as Metabase, Tableau, or SQL for financial analysis
    • Proven track record of improving financial processes and reducing reporting timelines.

    Head of Finance, MFB

    About the role

    • We are hiring a Head of Finance to own the financial health, reporting and regulatory standing of Paystack Microfinance Bank (Paystack MFB).
    • You will run the bank's finance function end to end: accounting, treasury, prudential reporting, tax, budgeting and financial control.

    What you’ll be doing
    Financial reporting and control:

    • Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close, and produce IFRS financial statements on time.
    • Lead the statutory audit and keep a clean record with external auditors.
    • Design and run internal financial controls, including segregation of duties, reconciliations and approval limits.
    • Produce group reporting packs for Paystack and Stripe, and reconcile local IFRS figures to group requirements.

    Regulatory and prudential reporting:

    • Submit all CBN and NDIC returns accurately and on schedule, and fix the root cause of any late or incorrect filing.
    • Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity ratio, cash reserve requirement and other prudential limits daily, and escalate early when headroom narrows.
    • Apply CBN prudential guidelines for loan classification and provisioning, alongside IFRS 9 expected credit loss models.
    • Represent the bank's finance position in CBN examinations and respond to regulator queries.

    Treasury and liquidity:

    • Manage daily liquidity, funding and cash positions across settlement, customer deposits and operating accounts.
    • Set and run the bank's investment policy for surplus funds, such as treasury bills, within board-approved limits.
    • Build liquidity stress tests and a contingency funding plan.

    Planning, performance and capital:

    • Lead the annual budget and rolling forecasts, and report performance against plan to the MD and Board.
    • Model the capital and liquidity impact of new products before launch.
    • Plan capital needs ahead of growth and any change in CBN minimum capital rules.
    • Track product and unit economics, such as net interest margin, cost of funds and cost-to-income ratio.

    Tax and compliance:

    • Own corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax and other filings under the current Nigerian tax laws.
    • Manage relationships with tax authorities and advisers, and keep the bank ready for tax audits.

    Leadership and governance:

    • Present financial and prudential reports to the Board and its Audit and Risk committees.
    • Build and lead a small, high-quality finance team, and set clear standards for accuracy and speed.
    • Work with Risk, Compliance, Engineering and Product so finance processes scale with automation, not headcount.

    What it takes to succeed

    • 10+ years in finance, with at least 4 years in a senior finance role at a CBN-licensed bank, microfinance bank or other regulated financial institution.
    • A full professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CIMA or CPA), and registration with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.
    • Hands-on experience preparing CBN and NDIC returns and working through CBN examinations.
    • Strong IFRS knowledge, especially IFRS 9 expected credit loss.
    • Experience managing treasury and liquidity in a deposit-taking institution.
    • A clean regulatory record that meets CBN fit-and-proper criteria for key management roles.
    • Clear written communication, including board-level reporting.
