    Research Officer

    The Research Officer will be part of the Office of the Chief Economist team and will report to the Chief Economist. S/he will be responsible for conducting research, reviewing articles submitted to the Bank thereby providing insights and up to date content for the Banks intellectual materials and newsletters. S/he will support on sustainability reporting as well as M&E reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide support in the identification of market demand and market opportunity to contribute to the growth of the institution
    • Assist in preparing presentations and speaking notes as required.
    • Contribute to original articles in the working paper series of the Bank.
    • Collaborates in the preparation of quarterly technical reports
    • Assist in the maintenance of research database and intellectual materials of the bank.
    • Analyze and resolve research issues in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Support on an ad-hoc basis M&E analysis and reporting.
    • Support on an ad-hoc basis for Sustainability activities
    • Conduct regular market survey/competitive analysis of the industry.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Social Science or equivalent. A master’s degree is a plus
    • Preferably have 1 – 5 years’ experience in banking or/and microfinance sector
    • Experience in field research, data collection and analysis and report writing
    • Good at research methodology & procedure
    • Good command in English
    • Be able to communicate well with all staff, local communities, and authority
    • Ability to perform task with minimum supervision
    • High motivation, initiative, willing and able to travel
    • Good computer literacy (MS Office, SPSS, Stata, or other analysis applications)

    Enterprise Risk Management Officer

    Responsibilities

    Efficient risk management

    • Provide support in the implementation of the Bank’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Framework, Operational Risk Framework, Reputational Risk Framework, FX Policy, Capital Management & Stress Testing and Bael III Implementation.
    • Review the above Frameworks as at when required and developing new risk frameworks to address emerging risk issues.
    • Engagement of various stakeholders to set and communicate appropriate risk appetites/ tolerances.
    • Provide risk advisory services to various departments in the effective management of risks arising from the Bank's policies, activities and initiatives.
    • Monitor appropriate risk indicators and triggers for the Bank
    • Participate in the identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring and reporting of risks across the Bank.
    • Set risk exposure limits in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
    • Participate in the periodic review of the Bank’s Investment Policy, Assets and Liability Management Policy (ALM) in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
    • Conduct periodic (quarterly and semi-annually) stress test on various risk metrics and indicator and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate the observed vulnerabilities.
    • Oversee the management and reporting of risk events on the Bank’s counterparties.
    • Prepare MRC and ALCO reports.
    • Ensure that agreed resolutions from the MRC and ALCO meetings are implemented.
    • Provide support in Developing risk models for Pillar I & II Capital Charge which will serve as inputs into the ICAAP.
    • Monitor the media for negative mentions of the Bank.

    Operational risk assessment and capacity building

    • Identification and independent monitoring of enterprise-wide view of known and emerging risks in the Bank.
    • Work with risk owners and all stakeholders in the development and update of the risk register
    • Work with departments in developing Control Risk Self-Assessment (CRSA) and development Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for all departments and monitoring of the set KRIs.
    • Implementation of Business Continuity Plan (BCP); including coordinate the regular BCP test and follow-up on the remediation of the observed gaps.
    • Work with relevant stakeholders in the implementation of the ISO certification.
    • Monitor the risk exposure of the subsidiary (Impact Credit Guarantee Ltd) and ensure risk exposure of the company are within the Bank`s risk appetite
    • Analysis of incidence reports and proposing mitigants for the identified risks

    Market and Liquidity risk management

    • Identification, measurement, analysis, monitoring and reporting of market, liquidity and FX risk exposures of the Bank.
    • Review of the Bank’s Market (IRRBB) and liquidity Risk Policy to identify gaps and areas for improvements
    • Monitor and report compliance with the Bank Market (IRRBB) and liquidity Risk appetite (standards, limits) and risk tolerance.
    • Support the ALCO and MCRC secretariats
    • Monitor compliance with counterparty placement limits
    • Render regulatory returns to the CBN.

    Financial Risk Management

    • Formulate and periodically review the asset liability management (ALM) policies, liquidity policies and guidelines for the Bank
    • Update the Bank’s Capital Management and Stress Testing framework
    • Prepare the Bank’s annual market risk review, providing a monitoring report to the Board on currency, interest rate, liquidity and counterparty risks
    • Prepare monthly reports on currency and interest rate risks, as well as quarterly reports on financial projections, liquidity risk and debt allocation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration or any social sciences related discipline.
    • Post graduate degree in a business-related field or management is an added advantage.
    • Membership of any recognized professional certification such as RIMAN, PRMIA, GARP, IRM or any related certification is required.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Banking or Financial risk in a related field is required.

    Treasury & Investment Officer

    The Treasury & Investment Officer is to support treasury function to always ensure efficient and seamless services. The Treasury & Investment Officer reports directly to Head, Treasury & Investments.

    Responsibilities

    • Engages Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) to receive Securities as Collaterals for loan disbursements. This includes valuation of the securities, switches and rollovers when necessary.
    • Responsible for funding activities.
    • Engages in treasury bills investments.
    • Engages Operations department and obtain pipeline loans for treasury planning purposes.
    • Reviews of transactions with banks to identify reconciliation issues for resolution.
    • Follows up with commercial banks and obtain all contract letters.
    • Capturing of treasury transactions on Eazybank
    • Prepares Treasury reports based on market developments to position DBN’s portfolio in a profitable manner.
    • Ensures documentation of all treasury activities.
    • Engages and responds to requests relating to Treasury from different departments and units of the bank.
    • Participates in audit confirmation of account balances and securities positions as requested by commercial banks, Microfinance Banks and Audit Department.
    • Ensures compliance with statutory and internal policies.
    • Nurtures and maintains relationships with relevant key stakeholders.
    • Performs other duties assigned from time to time.
    • Complies with the principles of the Information Security Policy of the bank.
    • Performs other tasks such as arranging meetings with commercial banks and other stakeholders on treasury related issues.
    • Works closely with Head, Treasury and investments to ensure effective treasury services for the bank.
    • Follows up on requests and issues addressed to Treasury and ensures timely feedback is provided or the issues are resolved.
    • Handles treasury assignments expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
    • Provides a link between treasury and other stakeholders to build relationship crucial to the success of DBN.
    • Communicates on behalf of the Head, Treasury and Investments with internal and external stakeholders, on various matters as may be directed by Head, Treasury and investments.
    • Proactively and reactively handle ad hoc requests for treasury unit.

    Qualifications

    • A good first degree in Social / Management Sciences or any related discipline.
    • A post-graduate degree in a management related field is an added advantage.
    • Membership of ACI, ACIB, ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA or any other related certifications is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 3 years cognate experience in a similar role is required.
