    Radiographer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiographer to join our healthcare team. 
    • The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of radiographic examinations, ensuring patient safety, and providing high-quality imaging results. 
    • The Radiographer will work closely with medical staff, including doctors and radiologists, to support patient care. 
    • This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning in the field of radiography.

    Responsibilities

    • Assess patients and their clinical requirements to determine the most appropriate radiographic techniques based on their condition and physician’s orders.
    • Perform a range of radiographic examinations on patients, producing high-quality images that assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
    • Take responsibility for radiation safety within the work area, ensuring all radiographic equipment is functioning correctly, and identifying potential malfunctions or errors.
    • Manage patient referrals to ensure they receive the lowest possible radiation dose without compromising image quality.
    • Oversee the safe supervision of visiting staff and patients in radiation work areas to maintain safety protocols.
    • Assist in complex radiological examinations, collaborating with doctors such as radiologists and surgeons to ensure optimal imaging results.
    • Provide physical and emotional support to patients, addressing their psychological needs and ensuring they are comfortable throughout the imaging process.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in radiographic technology and techniques by participating in professional training, attending conferences, and reading relevant publications.
    • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with health and safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate and thorough records of radiographic examinations, patient interactions, and equipment status.
    • Communicate findings and any issues with the medical team, ensuring that all relevant information is recorded for future reference.
    • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
    • Adhere to all relevant medical and safety standards, policies, and guidelines in the practice of radiography.
    • Ensure compliance with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) and other regulatory bodies.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Radiography or a related field.
    • Licensure: Current practicing license from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
    • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a Radiographer in a healthcare setting.

    Skills:

    • Proficiency in imaging techniques, including X-ray, CT, and MRI, and expertise in using associated equipment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess patient conditions and produce accurate images.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain procedures to patients clearly and compassionately.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when handling patient data and imaging results.
    • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
