    Quantity Surveyor

    Description

    • Adkan Services Nigeria Limited is seeking a highly competent and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing team of construction professionals.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for cost planning, contract administration, procurement support, and financial management of construction projects from inception to completion.
    • This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and proven experience in managing project costs while ensuring value for money and adherence to project budgets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and tender documentation.
    • Conduct cost planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting for construction projects.
    • Analyze drawings and specifications to prepare accurate quantity take-offs.
    • Evaluate contractor and supplier quotations and provide procurement recommendations.
    • Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
    • Prepare interim valuations, variation orders, and final accounts.
    • Manage contract administration and ensure contractual compliance.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
    • Identify and mitigate cost risks throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Prepare periodic cost reports and present project financial updates to management.
    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure project objectives are achieved.
    • Support project negotiations and dispute resolution when necessary.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 6years proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry (mandatory).
    • Demonstrated experience in residential, commercial, or industrial construction projects.
    • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost control techniques.
    • Ability to prepare and interpret Bills of Quantities, tender documents, and valuation reports.
    • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant quantity surveying software.
    • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional membership or registration with relevant bodies such as the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) or Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN).
    • Experience working on high valued projects.
    • Knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of construction contracts.
    • Experience with cost management software and ERP systems.

    Chief Security Officer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking an experienced, disciplined, and strategic Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead and manage the organisation's overall security operations.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting the company's personnel, assets, properties, construction sites, facilities, and information while developing and implementing effective security policies, procedures, and risk-management strategies.
    • The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills, excellent knowledge of security operations, incident management, access control, emergency response, and the ability to coordinate effectively with law enforcement and relevant government security agencies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and continuously review the company's comprehensive security strategy and policies.
    • Provide strategic leadership and supervision to all security personnel and security contractors.
    • Conduct regular security risk assessments of offices, residential developments, construction sites, warehouses, and other company facilities.
    • Develop effective measures to prevent theft, vandalism, trespassing, fraud, sabotage, and other security threats.
    • Establish and enforce access-control procedures for employees, contractors, visitors, vehicles, and vendors.
    • Coordinate security operations across multiple locations and ensure adequate security coverage at all times.
    • Supervise security guards, supervisors, patrol teams, control-room personnel, and other security staff.
    • Investigate security incidents, breaches, losses, accidents, and complaints and prepare detailed reports for management.
    • Develop and maintain emergency response, evacuation, crisis-management, and business-continuity procedures.
    • Liaise with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), military authorities, local security organisations, and other relevant agencies where necessary.
    • Monitor security intelligence and emerging threats that may affect the organisation, its employees, projects, or assets.
    • Establish effective surveillance systems, including CCTV, alarm systems, access-control systems, perimeter security, and security communication procedures.
    • Carry out routine inspections and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
    • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of security records, incident reports, visitor logs, patrol records, and access-control registers.
    • Develop security training programmes and conduct regular drills for security personnel and employees.
    • Manage security-related vendors, contractors, and service providers and monitor their performance.
    • Prepare and manage the security department's budget and ensure cost-effective deployment of resources.
    • Provide regular security reports and recommendations to senior management.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian laws, regulations, and organisational security standards.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Security Management, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 15years' relevant experience in security management, with at least 10years in a senior security leadership position.
    • Previous experience managing security operations for a large organisation, construction company, real estate development, corporate environment, or multi-site operation will be an advantage.
    • Military, Police, DSS, NSCDC, or other recognised security-service background is highly desirable.
    • Strong knowledge of security risk assessment, threat management, investigations, surveillance, access control, and emergency response.
    • Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating large teams of security personnel.
    • Excellent knowledge of security procedures and best practices applicable to the Nigerian environment.
    • Strong report-writing, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies and high-pressure situations.
    • High level of integrity, confidentiality, discipline, and professionalism.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and security-management systems.
